Todd Bear

Obituary of Todd Everette Bear

Todd Everette Bear (Toddy) passed with family at his bedside on August 10, 2021, at the age of 44. Todd was born in Prince Albert, SK on August 2, 1977. He was the only son to Darlene and Ovide Campbell, but grew up with half siblings. At a young age he made the conscious decision to move and live with his very special aunty Jean and uncle Terrence until he was ready to enter university.

While growing up he spent many summers at Muskoday with his favourite uncle Everette. During holidays and summer vacation Todd was raised with his sister Erna and brother Phillip. Constantly playing outside and getting into all kinds of fun trouble. Todd was influenced by a long time friend Sidney Parenteau.

He graduated from Birch Hills High School in 1996, and later realized school was what he wanted. Todd attended the University of Athabasca and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in the early 2000’s. Shortly after graduation Todd started his fulfilling career in education at Riverside School, and later moved on to Carlton Comprehensive High School as an Aboriginal Liaison.

In his spare time Todd enjoyed square dancing so much he taught the Muskoday Northern Lights Square Dancers. They competed and won multiple awards; his costumes were proudly made by his aunty Jean.

Todd was proudly succonded by Edmonton Education, and worked as a liaison for three years. When finding himself at a crossroad he decided to further himself and moved to Ottawa, ON, to work with Indian Affairs Canada. After a short fulfilling career Todd decided to come home to Prince Albert to care for family.

Todd was an influential person and made an impact on many people's lives. One being a unique young man, Colby Schoenrock. Even though he was not Todd’s biologically, they had a father and son bond.

After many years of friendship Todd met his life long partner/fiance Rose-Marie Paradis. Together they built a small business in rental properties. Being together for 10 years Todd and Rose-Marie decided to renovate the house they live in. This being one of Todd’s most proud accomplishments. Todd, understanding that Rose-Marie was a package deal with two children Tyra-Lee and Zoie Parenteau, took on a multi-parenting role, blending the families.

Todd is survived by his spouse, Rose-Marie Paradis; parents, Darlene and Ovide Campbell; siblings, Delores Campbell, Dennis Campbell, Marie Campbell, Erna Bear, and Phillip Durocher; and special friends, Sidney Parenteau, Colby Schoenrock, Tyra-Lee and Zoie Parenteau.

Todd is preceded by his brothers, Eric and Dennis Napope; aunt, Jean Bear; uncles, Terrence Bear, and Eric Bear Sr.; and his beloved grandparents, Mary and Jimmy Bear.

We would like to thank all the staff at Victoria Hospital, and Royal University Hospital.
