Obituary of Robert Keith Barton

Robert “Bob” K. Barton, late of Prince Albert, SK, passed away on his own terms, surrounded by his loving family on August 11, 2021.  Bob was born in Kinistino, SK, on March 23, 1940, to Ray and Ellen “Nell” Barton.  Bob was raised in MacDowall, SK, and in 1963 he married Phyllis nee Sellers.  Bob began working with Sask Power Corporation at a young age, installing rural power lines to farms mainly on the east side of the province.  He then transferred to Natural Gas, followed by Maintenance and then Instrumentation, eventually becoming the Manager of Engineering Services in Regina’s Head Office, and retiring in 1987.

Bob loved both golf and curling and devoted many volunteer hours at his beloved Callie Curling Club in Regina.  In 2007, when they moved to Prince Albert, he continued golf and curling, once again giving his time to the Prince Albert Junior Curlers.  In later years, he enjoyed both the Men’s Senior and Mixed Stick Leagues at the PAGCC.  The family cabin at Anglin Lake, where Bob had “the best neighbors in the world”, was purchased after he fell in love with the area after owning the Beaver store there, from 1964 to 1969.  It remained his favorite spot.  Bob was delighted to become Grandpa to Sara, a role he loved and cherished.

Bob will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 58 years, Phyllis (nee Sellers); his children, Rob (Michelle) Barton and Treena (Ron) Pawlyshyn; his granddaughter, Sara; as well as numerous cousins and many friends.  Bob was predeceased by his parents, Ray and Nell Barton; and his sister, Ethel.

In keeping with his wishes, a Celebration of Bob’s Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 13, 2021.  You are welcome to attend this virtual service/recording by following the link:  https://youtu.be/BqIVDlMX-b8
