Obituary of Betty Margaret Schatkoske

MRS. BETTY SCHATKOSKE 1931 - 2009 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Betty Margaret Schatkoske on Friday, June 12, 2009 at the age of 77 years. Betty was born to Isak and Margit Larsen on Oct. 22, 1931. She grew up and went to school in the Cookson District. She was the eldest of three children with two brothers to complete the family. During her school years she enjoyed playing ball, and as a young woman she loved social events and dances. Betty worked closely with her mother, where she developed her skills of cooking, canning and sewing. She used these gifts throughout her lifetime. When Betty left home, she worked for several families as a housekeeper and nanny. While working for Martin and Evelyn Schatkoske, Betty was introduced to Bernard. On June 7, 1954 Betty and Bernard were married and settled into a busy life on the farm in the Sturgeon River District. Three children were born to Betty and Bernard; Ann, Lynn and Neil. Betty was genuinely committed to family, church family and community. She had a volunteer heart and could be trusted to organize and plan efficiently. Some of her many involvements included; the Sturgeon River Cemetery, the Legion Auxiliary, the Curling Club and the Golf Club. Supporting her children in their education and extra-curricular activities were a priority for her. As life settled on the farm and her family matured, Betty enjoyed two trips to Norway, the birthplace of her parents. Betty loved her six grandchildren, each grandchild was very special to her and for each she found a way to share a part of herself. Betty has been an inspiration and a guiding light to all her family and friends. Fifty-five very special years were devoted to Bernard and their family, her enthusiasm for life has touched all that have known her. Betty will be lovingly remembered by her dear husband Bernard of Shellbrook, SK, her children Ann Dupuis of Saskatoon, SK, Lynn Schatkoske of Saskatoon, SK, Neil (Lisa) Schatkoske of Shellbrook, SK, her grandchildren Daniel Dupuis, Tara Dupuis, Sabrina Dupuis, Adam Schatkoske, Josee?
