Obituary of Joshua Daniel Martodam

MARTODAM, Joshua Daniel passed away on June 17, 2009 at the age of 20 years. Joshua was born in Saskatoon on April 12, 1989 to David and Janet Martodam. Joshua lived in Spiritwood, SK until the age of eight and then the family moved to Meadow Lake, SK. Josh was a young man wise beyond his years; he was hugely compassionate towards people and animals alike. Josh was generous with his time and his possessions and he tried always to remain honest with those he cared about. He had a deep passion and love for music, the environment, human rights and debating but he hated fighting, and he hated the anger behind fighting. He had so much love in his heart and he shared that love with his family, he would always give these "just in case hugs" just in case anything bad ever happened. Josh was a very proud uncle, he loved spending time with his nephew and nieces, and he always had time for his family. Josh will be lovingly remembered by his parents David and Janet Martodam of Meadow Lake, SK, his sisters Jennifer (Giuseppe) Dileone of Meadow Lake, SK, and their children Jonah and Haley Dileone, and Jessica Martodam of Greece. His brother Jonathon (Michelle) Martodam of Meadow Lake, SK and their daughter Nora Martodam, his grandmothers Phyllis Melton (Bud) of Shell Lake, SK, Ione Martodam of Spiritwood, SK, Tina Schock of Shell Lake, SK, As well as numerous close Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and Friends. He was predeceased by his grandfather Clarence Martodam, his grandfather William Melton, his great grandmother Ruth Dahl, his great grandfather Ryan Schock, and his uncle Lee King. The Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009 at 2 p.m. from the Meadow Lake Civic Center, Meadow Lake, SK with Delores Beaulac as officiant, The tribute to Josh was given by his Family, the soloist was Bill Martodam, the Urn Bearers were Joshua's family. In celebrating Josh's life and accepting his death, we hope that all of us can learn something from this. If we slow down and take more care of each other, accept people for who they are, and give more "Just in case hugs" then Josh would have succeeded in his goal of changing the world. Memorial Donations in Joshua's memory may be made to Meadow Lake Humane Society, Plan Canada or Doctors without Borders. Beau"Lac" Funeral Home of Spiritwood, SK was entrusted with the arrangements.
