Obituary of Alice Pearson

PEARSON: Alice passed away on July 4, 2009 in Spiritwood, Sask at the age of 85 years. Alice was born on April 20, 1924 in Parkside, Saskatchewan, the family then later moved to the Nestledown area. Alice married Carl Pearson on April 22, 1946 in a double wedding ceremony with her sister Helen to Wynn Bather. They had three children, Eleonore who was born in 1947, Arthur in 1948 and Coleen came along nine years later, in 1957. Alice also raised her niece Sandra, after her sister Helen's death. Carl and Alice farmed until 1978, and then moved to Canwood, she enjoyed sewing, upholstery work and taking things apart to fix them, she had her own set of tools. As her family knows, she enjoyed rearranging her house on a monthly basis, though she usually chose the bigger items, such as the walls, cupboards or the washing machine. Alice was always known for having the coffee pot on and lunch served, she had a "forceful personality" and she always made her opinion known, but she was also known to give her material possessions away without a moment's notice, if she felt someone else could use it more. Alice will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Eleonore (Keith) Turner of Saskatoon, SK, Coleen Pearson of Saskatoon, SK, Sandra (Dale Balan) Grumbo of Smeaton, SK, her grandchildren, Duane Turner of Saskatoon, SK, Dawn Turner of Saskatoon, SK, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Carl Pearson, her son Arthur Pearson, her infant daughter Shirley Ann Pearson, her brothers Olaf (Jennie) Anderson, Frank, Tore, Valfred and Leonard Anderson, her sisters Gerda (Bob) Fraser and Helen (Wynn) Bather, her brothers - in-law Sven (Mabel) Pearson and Alf Pearson, her sisters - in-law Hulda (Ingvie) Johnson. The Funeral Service was held on Thursday July 9, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. from the Canwood Elk's Hall, Canwood, SK with Delores Beaulac officiating. The Eulogy was read by Doris Basley, the music was directed by Grace Buhler together with the soloists from the Community Choir, the urn bearers were Duane and Dawn Turner.
