Obituary of Mr. John 'Jack' Morrison

Morrison- Mr. John 'Jack' Morrison, age 84, late of Foxdale, passed away in Whispering Pine Place in Canwood on Sunday, July 5, 2009. Jack was born in Shellbrook on June 10, 1925, to Harry and Esther Morrison. He attended Sturgeon River School, and worked with his dad on the farm and on the winter logging. In 1950 he married Olive Stephensen, and they had three children, Frank, Debbie, and Dwayne. Olive and Jack drove school bus for several years, and Jack worked at P.A.N.P. for one year. A terrible car crash ended his working career. Jack and Olive's door was always open to family and friends. He loved children and was very proud of his grandchildren. He loved music, and played the guitar and fiddle, and played in a band with his brother Gordon and sister Mami. He would always keep everyone laughing with his jokes and his good sense of humour. Jack's generosity always shone through thinking of others before himself. He loved ball and curling. He depended on Olive, and loved her with all his heart, and missed her deeply when she passed away in 2003. Jack moved in to Whispering Pine Place in Canwood, where he enjoyed the company of staff and friends. "We love you Grampa. You will be greatly missed by your family and friends." Jack leaves to mourn, his children, Frank (Gail) Morrison of Foxdale, Debbie Schmalz of Sturgeon River, Dwayne Morrison of Edmonton; his grandchildren, Carson Hansen (Rebecca McLean) of Saskatoon, Dallas Morrison (Candace Hansen) of Saskatoon, Brett Morrison of Foxdale, Brad Schmalz of Sturgeon Lake, Shauna Schmalz (Chad Collier) of Barrington NS; a great grandchild, Colby Schmalz of Edmonton; his brother, Gordon (Hilda) Morrison of Prince Albert; his sister, Mami (Lewis) Ernst of Sturgeon Valley. He was predeceased by, his dear wife, Olive; his brother, Frank Morison; a great grand daughter Kayla Schmalz; his parents, Harry and Esther Morrison. A Graveside Funeral Service was held at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Prince Albert on Friday, July 10 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Don Haugen as officiant. The pallbearers were Carson Hansen, Brad Schmalz, Dallas Morrison, Brett Morrison.
