Obituary of Sylvia Marie Kalika

The family of Sylvia Marie Kalika (nee Kalyn) sadly announce her passing at Mont St. Joseph Home, on November 26, 2021.  Sylvia was born in Hafford, SK on June 17, 1939, and married Ernie on November 10, 1957.  She helped Ernie farm at Cudworth and looked after their children.  In August of 1968 they moved to Prince Albert, and she began working at Hannigans at night to save on the cost of babysitting.  She then worked at night for El Rancho until their youngest began school.  Sylvia continued to work first at the Coronet in the laundry department followed by Kresge’s from June 15, 1974, until June 15, 1994, when they closed their doors, and finally for the PA Shopper for 10 years.  

Sylvia will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Ernest; her children, Natalie Kalika, Myron Kalika, Ronald Kalika, Bernard Kalika, Debbie (Roger) Dahl and Randall Kalika; her grandchildren, Crystal (Kevin) Wasyliw, Christopher (Siobhan) Kalika, Michael Kalika, Danielle (Kim) Moskalewski, Nicholas (Desiree) Kalika, Jessica (Ryan) Paterson, Casey (Shantel) Kalika, Michael (Brittanie) Kalika, Khristopher (Cassandra) Kalika,  Krista (Glenn) Mandzuik, Meagan Kalika, Brooke (Jeremy) Kalika, Tera Dahl, Derek (Brittany) Dahl, Kale Kalika and Kalyn Kalika; her 13 great-grandchildren and one due to arrive in January 2022; her sisters-in-law, Marilynn Kalyn, Virlee Kalyn, Doris Oleksuik and Sylvia Kalinowski; her daughter-in-law, Donna Pakish; as well as numerous other family and friends. 

Sylvia was predeceased by her son, Raymond Kalika; her granddaughter, Kristie Kalika; her parents, Michael and Dora Kalyn; her brothers, Ernie Kalyn and Bob Kalyn; her sister-in-law, Lena Matwechuk; her parents-in-law, Mike and Maria Kalika; and her brothers-in-law, Peter Oleksuik, John Kalinowski and Peter Matwechuk.

Public Visitation will be held from 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at Beau “Lac” Funeral Home, 300B – 300 Marquis Road West, Prince Albert.  Funeral Divine Liturgy will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at St. George Ukrainian Catholic Church, 770 14th Street West, Prince Albert, with Father Andrei Kachur officiating. Interment will follow the service at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens.  Please note that masks will be required at the funeral home and in the church.  Those attending the lunch following the interment will be required to provide proof of double vaccination, or a negative Covid test within 72 hours along with identification.   In lieu of other tributes, donations in memory of Sylvia may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.  Family and friends wishing to send online condolences are welcome to visit www.beaulacfuneralhome.com. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Beau “Lac” Funeral Home and Crematorium, Tracy-Lynn Lenchuk, Funeral Director, Prince Albert, SK 306-763-3322
