Obituary of Judith Heather Hicks
Judith Heather Hicks (nee Wilson)
It is with great sadness that we announce that Judith “Judy” Heather Hicks, born on May 8, 1949, passed away on November 27, 2021, surrounded by family, after a very brief battle with cancer at the age of 72 years.
Judy was born to Rowna and Harry Wilson in Birch Hills, Saskatchewan. She loved the family farm and Birch Hills, attending Fisher School, which she held dear to her heart throughout her life, until its closure, and then attended Birch Hills High School. She moved to Prince Albert after high school to attend secretarial school. Shortly afterwards she began her family, first her daughter Tracey, followed by her son Kevin. After maternity leave, Judy went to work at Safeway where she stayed for most of her career, meeting and forming relationships with customers and fellow staff alike and retiring after 35 years. Judy met Bordie Hicks and they married in April 1984. They remained happily married until Bordie's passing in 2019.
Judy loved working in her garden and yard, tending to her birdfeeders and watching all the birds come and go. She would spend evenings out in her oasis - her yard - sitting by the fire and enjoying a cold drink. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting items for her family. Judy's greatest joy in recent years was spending time with family and with her dog, Abby. She especially loved the family golfing get togethers in recent years.
Judy is survived by her loving family, her daughter, Tracey (Kenton) LeComte, and their children, Kyle (Jasmin) Folmer, Dallas Danczak, and Kailee Arcand; her son, Kevin (Heather) Halcro; her sister, Lois (Dennis) Hill; her brothers, Ron (Leslie) Wilson and Kerry Wilson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and friends. Judy was predeceased by her husband of 35 years, Bordie; and her parents, Harry and Rowna (nee Urry) Wilson.
A Celebration of Judy's Life and scattering of ashes will be held at a later date. In lieu of other tributes, donations in memory of Judy may be made to the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan, 200 - 4545 Parliament Avenue, Regina, SK, S4W 0G3.
