Gaza Papp

Obituary of Gaza Papp

On November 27th, 2021, GAZA PHILLIP PAPP, surrounded by his loving wife and family, went home to be with his Lord and Saviour, at the age of 86.  Our Dad was born November 7th, 1935, to parents Michael and Vera Papp, on their homestead in Meskanaw, Saskatchewan.  Dad met the love of his life, Mavis (Hemm) at Wakaw Lake, in the summer of 1962.  In a whirlwind love story, Dad and Mom were married on November 15th, 1962, in Middle Lake, Saskatchewan.   Dad and Mom continued farming in Meskanaw, until his retirement.  They moved into Prince Albert in 2006 to be closer to their children and grandchildren, who were his pride and joy.  During Dad's retirement he enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, travelling with his kids, and visiting with friends and family.  Dad enjoyed nothing more than having his children gather together for a good meal and conversation, and we could always count on Dad giving us a "drive slow and hurry back", as he waved from the front step, at the end of the night.  If there is one thing we could say about our dad, it is, that it didn't matter what we did or what was happening, he was the one person in this world that we could always count on.

Anyone who knew our Dad knew he had a strong unshakable faith. Dad was a man of integrity and honor, and his family meant the world to him.  He was a humble man who enjoyed the simple things. Dad was very passionate about passing along his strong ethics, morals, values and faith to his family. Today we are very thankful for those values that he has instilled in us.

Dad is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Mavis Ruth (Hemm); his children, Violet (Brent) Herdin, Johnnie (Keri) Papp, Gary (Janice) Papp, Mary Ann (Mark) Allen, Lillian (Tim) Scharkowski, Sharon (Josh) Funk, Nicole (Nicky) Loggins, Sam (Janet) Papp, and Paul (Kayla) Papp; his grandchildren, Melissa (Jason), Megan (Mitch), Amanda, Shalaine (Shane), Bryanne, Tru, Keagen, Emily, Kathlene, Colten, Brooklyn, Nicholas, Cole, Caleb, Anna, Marissa (Jesse), Michael, Lexi, Abby, Hayley, Colson, Brianne, Cole, Kiera, Aiden, Alexis, Emma, Payton, Kylie, and Hannah; and his 6 great-grandchildren, Mason, Maddix, Liam, Harper, Harlynn and Rayne.

He was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Vera Papp; his in-laws, Ernest and Cora Hemm; his brothers, Mike Papp, Steve Papp, Johnny Papp, and his sisters, Margaret Harmon, Irene Papp (in infancy); and his grandson, Craig Fraser.

A Private Family Service will be held.  In lieu of other tributes, donations in memory of Gaza may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 917A Albert Street, Regina, SK, S4R 2P6.  Family and friends wishing to send online condolences are welcome to visit www.beaulacfuneralhome.com. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Beau “Lac” Funeral Home and Crematorium, Tracy-Lynn Lenchuk, Funeral Director, Prince Albert, SK 306-763-3322
