Obituary of Thomas John Henderson
HENDERSON – Thomas
1934 – 2021
Thomas (Tom) Henderson passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, at the age of 87 years. Tom was born in the Bramshott an area in the RM of Leask where he lived a full life until his passing. He went to Bramshott school but dropped out at 14 even though he was a good student to start working. He bought his first land at 15. He was a big help to his mother in the house and through her became an amazing gardener. Rows were straight, there were no weeds and he looked forward to the first potatoes and fresh veggies every year.
He spent his life living in the area and farming with his brother Alex. He worked hard, was down to earth had a kind heart. He loved working with cattle and knew every animal on the farm as well as the history of each one. Tom spent over a decade driving the local school bus and many adults in the area fondly remember Tom as their bus driver. Tom loved kids. His nieces and nephews, along with neighbor kids have countless fond memories of Tom. He always took the time to take them for rides on the quad, take them to check cattle, teach them farm skills or invite them to just sit and chat with him with a pop and candy. Tom loved visiting with friends and neighbors and loved seeing people swing in for a drink and a chat. He had many stories to tell and knew so much about the history of the area where he was born and raised.
He passed away in the Shellbrook Nursing Home where he had been residing for several months. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 7th, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at the Leask Lions Hall followed by a graveside service in the Leask Cemetery and fellowship & luncheon back at the hall.
