Our sincere condolences to Linda, Mitch and Robb on the passing of Rick, husband, and father. We worked with Rick for several years at IBM in Saskatoon and used to enjoy our get togethers with him and other IBM employees. When Rick build his cabin at Candle Lake it was the start of further bigger things at that lake. We even ended up renting his cabin from him for a week back in the 1980's. We also managed to visit with Rick and Linda on several occasions at Candle Lake after he retired from IBM and built his (Rick's Marina) and then the campground. Sincerely, Bernice and Ken Nyeste (Saskatoon).

Dear Linda,
Karen and I were so very sorry to hear of Rick's passing. When Rick and I worked together at IBM in Toronto Rick was the most enthusiastic, energetic and happiest fellow I had ever met. One of the memories Karen and I have of Rick was when he stayed with us for a couple of days and had made a funny remark to Karen. Karen, at the time was dishing up dinner for the three of us and didn't think the remark was as funny as Rick did., She turned around and let fly a serving of lasagna at Rick. Rick ducked and the lasagna hit the wall with a resounding splat. We all had a pretty good laugh.....especially Rick I'm sure there are many more happy and probably funny memories of Rick.
Take care.
Karen & Bill Hall

I extend my sympathy to you Linda and your family. I have fond remembrances of Uncle Richard - as Lorna, Susan, Mark and Ross used to call him. He paid attention to all of kids when we were little and was always trying to make us laugh (and he was quite successful). As you know, I knew Clive and Una and their kids since I was born, as they were great friends of my parents, Alvin and Doreen. I was quite little when our family of six visited you and Richard while you were living in Toronto. I was highly impressed with your apartment - so modern and cool!! As a farm kid, I had never been in a high rise apartment anywhere, let alone Toronto. It was a fun and memorable visit with music, food and much laughter. To this day, when I hear the song, Riders of the Storm, I am reminded of that happy night in Toronto. The Hewitts are thinking of you during this time of great sorrow.

Rick and I worked together in our very early days at IBM. It was always interesting and fun working with Rick. We often had our moments of disagreement, but it never affected our friendship. From those early days of knowing Rick, meeting his wife Linda and our many times together while in Toronto and then in Saskatchewan are fond memories of ours.
We are sorry Linda to hear of your loss. So glad to know that Rob and Mitch are there with you and provide the support that is critical at this time.
Our sympathies to you and the boys.

The ice melting off the lake and the opening of the marina each spring always bring back great memories. And Rick was so much a part of those memories because he was right there every year to greet us and lend a hand as we launched the boat for the first time. We will miss seeing him. Our condolences to Linda, Mitch and Robb.

Our condolences to Linda, Rob, Mitch and family. Thanks to Ricks' vision, determination and dedication he built a destination for many to enjoy. Even with his long hours working, there was still time for a campfire, a joke and a drink. Cheers to Rick

Hello everyone, and may you be consoled in this time of saying goodbye. We visited the marina and met with Rick and his family 3 or 4 years ago, being so happy to meet a relative. We were warmly welcomed and enjoyed a lovely afternoon on the deck watching the boats go by. Our fathers were cousins from Ontario who continued their relationship to the time of their passing. We are Gordon and Lisa Wensley, I being the son of the late F. Warren Wensley of Borden, Sask. Rest in Peace, cousin.

We will miss Rick at the marina. 26 years of smiles and visits as we filled the boat with gas and loaded up with ice cream treats. Then he’d push us out and say “see you tomorrow”
