Shirley Johnston

Obituary of Shirley Joan Johnston

Shirley Johnston

1944 - 2022

It is with great sadness that the Johnston and Poirier family regret to announce the sudden passing of their loving wife, mother, and grandmother Shirley Johnston.

Shirley passed away peacefully in her sleep at their home in Mistawasis, Saskatchewan on April 1, 2022.

Shirley had a rough time in her earlier years. She had to bury a young daughter (Paula) at 22 months and a husband (Paul Poirier) when she was about 25 years old. She had a few tough years with Paulette, medically, but thankfully she recovered and is doing good.

The meeting and getting together of Shirley and Russ is a story in itself. Joanne introduced them because she thought they’d be perfect for each other. They both constantly said, “we don’t know whether to curse her or to thank her”. Even on their wedding day, they said it. They truly had a bond that was special and would do anything and everything for each other.

Shirley will forever be remembered by her devoted husband Russ Johnston and her family,

her children: Joanne Poirier, Robert Poirier, Paulette (Orrin) Johnson, Dayna Jo Johnston; her

Grandchildren: Ashley, Heather, Matt, Titus, and Colby; her sisters-in-law: Marlene (Children and Grandchildren) Arlene (Barry) LongJohn (Ivan & Family), Linda Johnston, Norma Jean (Harvey) Lafond; her Goddaughter: Megan Johnston (Keanna “Void”, Kaydence, Katie); her nieces: Deanne Johnstone & family, Leanne (Darryl) Morissette & family; her nephews Marvin Johnston & family, and Wayne Johnston & family.
