Donna Dumont

Obituary of Donna Dumont

January 19, 1960 – May 18, 2022

Comforted by those she loved, the family announces the passing of Donna Dumont (nee Smith), age 62 years of Prince Albert, SK, on May 18, 2022.

Donna met the love of her life Guy Dumont, and they married May 13, 1978.  They had two children that they loved with all their hearts and were blessed with two grandchildren.  Donna and Guy had many adventures and lived in Prince Albert, Ontario, La Ronge and Duck Lake.  Donna was a skilled archer, avid fisherman, loved golf and camping, travelling, sister-trips to Vegas and casino.  Donna was devastated when she lost Guy to cancer on August 2, 2016.

Donna had a long and successful career with the province of Saskatchewan.  She began her career in 1978 at 18 years of age as a Clerk Typist with Department of Northern Saskatchewan.  She progressed to Administrative Assistant with SIAST, followed by Business Manager and Acting Director of Finance and Administration with Northern Affairs in La Ronge, Field Team Leader with Saskatchewan Environment in La Ronge, then moved back to Prince Albert and was Team Leader with Saskatchewan Environment.  While she was working full time and raising two children, she took university classes to ensure she was qualified for higher positions and encouraged her co-workers to do the same.  Donna received a long-service award in 2012 for 33 years unbroken service, then continued to work and achieved 38 years when she retired in June 2017.  A couple years later, Donna moved to Osoyoos and enjoyed wine tours, golf and beach time with her sister Marlene and brother-in-law Ross Nicolas.

In July of 2021 Donna decided to go on a family vacation to Radium with Tyson, Kendle and Jazlyn.  Radium had a special place in Donna’s heart because her and Guy went there on their honeymoon.  Donna booked a large family suite in Radium.  They enjoyed driving through the mountains and sightseeing along the way.  They enjoyed paddleboarding, swimming, time in the sun on the beach, eating and mini golfing.  Sadly they didn’t get to go to the Hot Springs because of long line ups.  This holiday and shared space encouraged many hours of laughter, love and memories that will be cherished forever.

Donna cherished her family and friends, was loved very much and will be forever with us in our hearts.

Donna is survived by her mother and step-father, Jeannette and Nick Wasyliw; her son, Tyson (Colleen Adolph) Dumont and their family Reilly and Jazlyn; her daughter, Kendle (Kurtis Kolodinsky) Dumont; her siblings, Marlene (Ross) Nicolas, Elvin (Brenda) Smith, and Sheila (Bob) Boyer; sister-in-law, Lucille (Walter) Samuel; and BFF/best bud, Wendy Vermette.

Donna was predeceased by her husband, Guy Dumont; her father, Lucien Smith; and her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Allan and Madeleine Dumont.

As per Donna’s request, no funeral service will be held.  There will be a small family gathering at a later date.

Memorial donations in Donna’s memory may be made to the Rose Garden Hospice, Box 2092, Prince Albert, SK, S6V 1E0
