Nora Lucy Gallant

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our Mom, Our AMA, Nora Lucy Gallant on Friday, May 20, 2022 at the age of 79 years in Shellbrook, SK.

Nora was born at Erinferry, SK on September 24, 1942, to Lawrence and Eva Klyne.

Asa child she attended Winter Lake, Park Valley, and Debden schools. She moved into Big River where she lived with her Granny Clara Klyne while going to High School.

In Big River, Nora met Gerard Gallant, they married in October of 1959. Six children were born to Nora and Gerard. As a mining family, they lived in many places, Big River, Banff, Creighton, Flin Flon, Allan, Bradwell, Rocanville, Shebandowan, and Ignace Ontario, then back to Saskatchewan to Gurensey. Nora and Gerard separated. Mom then worked as a waitress in Gurensey, Radisson, and Mirror Alberta.

1998, Mom then moved back to Prince Albert, SK so she could be close to her Mother Eva in her final year.

In 2000 Mom moved to Big River where she waitressed at Third & Main for many years. She also worked at Saskatchewan Environment as a custodian until her retirement in December 2011.

She continued to help Third & Main serving at banquets. Mom enjoyed sewing and mending for many and continued t do so until her very end. Mom had many quiet hobbies, including reading, cross-stitching, and knitting. August 2020 Mom moved to Shellbrook to be closer to family. While living at Homestead Place she made many new friends.

Rest easy now Mom, your work is done…we now have an AMA angel.

Nora leaves to cherish her memory her 5 children, Sherry (Sten); Rocky (Tanya); Terry; Dawn (Bill); Todd (Debbie); her 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; her 5 sisters, Cathy, Clara, Darlene, Susan, Louella; her 2 brothers, Mervyn and Vernon. Nora is predeceased by her infant daughter, Kimberley; her infant grandson, Joshua; her parents-in-law, Lawrence & Eva Klyne; her brother, Philip Arcand.

The Memorial Service for Nora will be taking place on Saturday, June 25, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at the Big River Community Hall with Delores Beaulac officiating. At mom’s request, a private interment will take place at a later date. Thank you to the dedicated staff at the Shellbrook Hospital. In lieu of tributes, memorial donations may be made in memory of Nora to the Big River Royal Canadian Legion (Box 435 Big River, SK S0J 0E0).
