Obituary of Elsie Mae Norbury

Elsie (Mom) Norbury was born at Lilac, Saskatchewan on November 16, 1924, she was the third of six children born to John & Mary Scott, and I was told that Elsie could do no wrong in her dad's eyes. The Scott family moved from Lilac to the homestead north of Meeting Lake in 1932 where they all attended Rothermere School. While attending school Mom would help her two older brothers John and Stanley does janitor work by bringing in the wood and water and carrying out the ashes. During this time our Mom also picked up on playing the guitar as it was her brothers Stan and John that provided a lot of the music in the country. Mom loved to sing, dance and play guitar. Elsie met and married Alfred Norbury in 1946 where they farmed and raised their family in the Spiritwood District known as "NORBURY". Elsie's brother Elmer and his wife Diane presently live at Glaslyn, her sister Pearl lives at Buck Creek, Alberta, and her sister in-law Millie lives in Kelowna B.C. Mom's brother Percy passed away earlier this week, what are the odds of two siblings to pass away on the same day? Elsie will be lovingly remembered by her Children Harold (Elaine) Norbury of North Battleford, Sask, .Larry Norbury of North Battleford, Sask, Vivian (Ron) Pylatuik of Lloydminster, Alta, Kelvin Norbury (Bonnie) of Meadow Lake, Sask and Karen (Shane) Ricard of Lloydminster, Alta, Ten Grandchildren, Eighteen Great-Grandchildren, her Sister Pearl Brewster of Buck Creek, Alta, a Sister-In-Law Millie Scott of Kamloops, B.C., her Brother Almer (Diane) Scott of Glaslyn, Sask and Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and countless friends. She was predeceased by her husband Alfred Norbury 1995, her parents John & Mary Scott, her brother Percy (Barbara Jean) Scott, her brother John (Blanche) Scott and her brother Stan Scott. The Funeral Service was held on Saturday, November 21st, 2009 at 2:00 p.m from the Pioneer Center, Spiritwood, Saskatchewan with Reverend Leigh Sinclair as Officiant , the organist was Carolyn Voss, the Eulogy was Memories by the Family, the Honorary Pallbearers were all relatives and friends who shared in Elsie's life.
