It is with sadness we announce the passing of Raymond Racine of Chitek Lake at the age of 82 years. He leaves to cherish his memory; His loving wife Marian of Chitek Lake, Sask.; His children: Dale Racine of Calgary, Alta., Leslie Racine of Calgary, Alta., Bonnie Almon of Kugluktuk, Nunavut, Debbie (Ian) Beatty of Calgary, Alta., His step-children: Grace (Ken) Hill of Christopher Lake, Sask., June (Sheldon) Sterling of Chitek Lake, Sask., Warren (Cindy) Larson of Chitek Lake, Sask.., Shawn (Bev) Larson of Chitek Lake, Sask, Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends; His brothers: Walter (Joette) Racine of Velva, North Dakota, Allan (Diane) Racine of Balcarres, Sask., Lloyd (Twyla) Racine of Maple Creek, Sask., His sisters: Ella (Lawrence) Canada of Deloraine, Man., Mable (Art) Whetley of Calgary, Alta., Judyann Black of Port Alberni, B.C. He was predeceased by: His father Louis, His mother Alice, His brothers Wilfred, Edward, Manfred and Alvin, His grand-daughter Krysta. Ray was born November 13, 1927 at Fish lake, Man. He was raised in Deloraine, Man. And later moved to Calgary where he worked and raised his four children. He met Marian in 1972. They stayed in Meadow Lake where they had a bush camp and sold posts and pulp. In 1980, they were married in Prince Albert. They relocated in Chitek Lake and continued their bush work. Ray enjoyed trapping and had a cabin at the South end of Green Lake. He was an active member of the local Metis club and enjoyed Batoche Days every year. Ray and Marian were avid hunters, usually getting their moose or deer very year. They enjoyed fishing, camping and the outdoors. Ray had accepted Marian's children and was very involved in family activities. Thus, as Ray and Marian got older, there was always someone around to help out. Ray's memory will live on through family and friends and will be missed by all. Ray's funeral service was held December 11, 2009 from the Chitek Lake Community Hall with Delores Beaulac officiating. The eulogy was given by Sheldon Sterling. The organist was Doris Daniels and Phil Marion led the hymns with his guitar. The urn bearer was Shawn Larson. He honorary pallbearers were all of the family and friends who shared in Ray's life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shellbrook & District Health Services Renovation Project, or to the Heart and Stroke foundation of Saskatchewan.
