Obituary of Doug L. Haryung

oug L. Haryung passed away Dec. 7, 2022, at the age of 73, at the Spiritwood & District Health Complex after a terrible battle with Vascular Dementia.

Doug was one of a kind.  Full of life, he persevered in everything.  He was rough and tough, kind generous and loving.  He had a warm heart, a quick smile and a wonderful sense of humour.  A man of faith he was fearless and a hard worker.  He lived life to the fullest, enduring hardships stoically even during his illness.  Always worried about others more than himself.  He will always be loved and missed.

Doug was predeceased by his parents, Mervin and Dolly, first wife Judy (nee: Bassingthwaite), parents in law: Bert and Margaret Bassingthwaite, Jim and Lorna White, brothers and sisters in law: Janette Klassen, Neil Bassingthwaite, Albert and Joanne Bassingthwaite.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy (nee: White), his children, Sherry Brown (Al Grimard), Byron (Connie Nand), Kirk (Jodie) and Angel Haryung-Forbes (Howie), grandchildren, Tyler, Cassidy, Jasmine, Alex, Austin, Jessica, Shaylynn, Callie, Chandie, Clayton and Colten, great-grandchildren, Wesley and Thea.  Brother, Dwayne, brothers and sisters in law, Vivian Bassingthwaite, John Bassingthwaite, Margaret (Hal) Thiessen, Sharon (Jim) Kinnee, Larry (Pauline) White, Shirley (Dave) Alexander also numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service for Doug will be “Cowboy Church” style on Saturday January 14, 2023, 2:00pm at the Rabbit Lake Community Hall, Rabbit Lake, SK with Pastor Rick Martin officiating.
