Obituary of Francis Roland Rask
RASK – Francis Roland
July 7, 1930 – February 26, 2023
Francis passed away at his home in Stump Lake District with his wife Yvonne and son Veryl at his side at the age of 92 years. Francis was predeceased by his parents Erick & Lillian (nee Bruner) Rask, his son Sheldon;his brother Edwin; his brothers-in-law Vern & Dennis LaMotte; his mother & father-in-law Margaret & Thoral LaMotte.
Francis is lovingly survived by his wife of 66 years, Yvonne (nee LaMotte) Rask; his son Veryl Rask;his grand-daughter Camellia (Francis) O'Higgins and their daughter Sophia ; his sister Doreen (Lloyd) Muller; his brother-in-law Dale (Helen – nee Arcand) LaMotte; his sister-in-law Joyce (nee LaMotte) Dumais; as well as numerous other relations and many friends.
Francis farmed in the Stump Lake district from an early age. He enjoyed being outdoors farming the land and had a passion for hunting big game most of his life. He was a keen private pilot who owned many of his own aircraft over the years. He loved flying his small Cessna 140 and giving neighbors a ride.
Francis loved visiting with family and neighbors. He could spend many hours at the kitchen table visiting over many cups of hot tea and homemade goodies made by Yvonne. He had a good heart and would do anything asked of him, and would never hesitate to stop what he was doing to go and help a neighbor.
Francis was a true workaholic; he couldn’t relax until his work was done. During spring, summer & fall, he would be up at the crack of dawn, working in the yard, preparing his machinery before heading out to the fields. Yvonne would get him ready for his day with a large breakfast each morning. We wouldn’t usually see Francis unless something broke down. Yvonne enjoyed packing up hot lunches and headed out to the fields for a visit with Francis in the busy field months.
Francis will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him and shared in his life’s journey.
There will be a Private Family Graveside Service held for Francis in the Canwood North Cemetery with Pastor Bob Wrench as officiant.
