Obituary of Anita Haugen

Anita Haugen

1946-2023

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear Mom, Anita Haugen.  Anita passed away peacefully and into the loving arms of Jesus on Monday, March 13, 2023 in Prince Albert, SK at the age of 77 years.

Anita was born on January 16, 1946 in Prince Albert, SK and was raised on the family farm near Victoire, SK. After high school, she completed a secretarial course and was hired at SaskTel. Then, in 1968 she began a long and rewarding career at the Prince Albert Pulp. Her determination and unrelenting work ethic helped her advance to the position of Human Resource manager at Weyerhaeuser which she held until her retirement in 2002. Following retirement, she and her husband, Andy, fulfilled their dream of owning a business when they opened Shetoby Boarding Kennels which they operated for 12 years. They truly enjoyed getting to know their many clients over the years.

Anita was a devoted wife and mother, caring sister and loving friend. She enjoyed music and dance, created great works of art with her needle point and loved spending time with her family at the lake. She and Andy enjoyed travelling and spent many winters vacationing in Hawaii. Most of all, Mom loved her family: her “greatest gifts”. She was a doting grandmother and a patient and caring mother. She was also very close to her three siblings and cherished every moment they spent together. She was a determined, independent and loving woman and she was our inspiration. We will miss her laughter, her warm and welcoming spirit and her love for all of us.

Anita is survived by her two children, Marc (Terri) Haugen and Carolyn (Joel) Bilodeau; her 5 grandchildren, Kennedy and Kaitlyn Haugen; Sophie, Damien and Noah Bilodeau; her brother Marcel Comtois and her sisters, Claudette (Robert) Bonneau and Loise (Gordon) Epp; her brothers in-laws, Lawrence (Terry) Haugen and Alan Henderson; her nephews Terry, Richard, Todd, Adam and Tyron; her nieces Lisa, Dawn, Misty, Kim and Alana; along with many lifelong friends. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 49 years, Andy Haugen; her parents, Ovila and Simone Comtois; her father and mother in-law, Oscar and Josephine Haugen; her in-laws, Yvonne Henderson and Betty and Jo Lo; and her nephews Serge Bonneau and David Lo.

Many heart-filled thanks to the countless caring doctors and nurses through the years who helped Mom through many trying times. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Victoria Hospital Foundation, info@helpthevic.ca in memory of Anita Haugen.  A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, March 20th, 2023, at 9:30am at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 260 – 25th St. E, Prince Albert, SK, Father Jim Kaptein officiating.  A private interment to follow in Victoire, SK.  Family and friends wishing to send online condolences are welcome to visit www.beaulacfuneralhome.com.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Beau “Lac” Funeral Home and Crematorium, Marianne Turcotte and Lori Saam Funeral Directors, Prince Albert, SK  306-763-3322.
