Oliver Gundar Eagleback

February 20, 1929 – September 8, 2023

It is with sadness we announce the passing of Oliver Eagleback at the age of 94 years.

Oliver was born on the farm in the Shell Lake district, which at that time was known as the Paddling Lake district.  He farmed on the family farm until his farm sale in 1990, he then continued to rent out his land and later sold it.  He had a keen interest in farming his entire life!  Oliver was a gentle and caring man who through his generosity and willingness to help connected him with his neighbours; who became his extended family.

In retirement years he moved off the farm to the Village of Shell Lake, then to Rose Gill lodge in Rabbit Lake which became his home for many years and recently to the Idylwild Lodge in Spiritwood.

“We come with nothing, we go with nothing. But one great thing we can achieve in our beautiful life is a little remembrance in someone’s mind and a small place in someone’s heart”.

He is survived by his nieces and nephews, Loretta (William), Martin Jr. (Jane), Leroy, Arthur (Shirley), Burnett (Alton), Marvin (Katherine), Josephine (newborn), Gerald, Phyllis (Herman), Stephen, Larry (Patty), Allen (aka Buddy), Phoebe, Faye (William), Walter (Connie), Dianne (Craig), as well as a large circle of friends.

Predeceased by: His parents, Peter and Hilda Eagleback, his siblings, Lawrence Larson (Hedwig Schmechel), Martin Larson (Mary Radil), Mary “Marie” (Albert Sannes), Christine (Helge Roen), Elene (Arnold Schmechel), Carl Larson, Myrtle (Stephen Frazier), Henry Larson, (Muriel), Helmer Drangsholt, Albert Eagleback (Hilda), Norman Eagleback (Alma Jean “Penny”)

A memorial service was held on Tuesday September 19, 2023, at Scandia Church.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Beau “Lac” Funeral Home and Crematorium, Dolores Beaulac, Funeral Director, Spiritwood (306) 883-3500.
