Alvina Braumberger

Obituary of Alvina Lorraine Braumberger

Today we lost a strong force in our lives and we, her children, her brothers and sisters, her grandchildren, and her friends miss her. Alvina (Hodel) Braumberger passed away peacefully at home, with family by her side.

She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Gerry Braumberger; her parents, Rudolph and Millie Hodel; brothers, George and Ron; and her sister, Erna. She is survived by her sons, Aaron (Monic) and Michael; grandchildren Daven and Madyn, with Jordan and Mackenzie and their mother Anita Briens; sisters, Anne, Doris, Hilda, and Martha; brother, Harold; and her special niece, Linda Vandale, who has been an angel of support and comfort, especially these last few years.

Born in Wheatwyn, SK, in 1944, Alvina grew up in Southey, SK, and Markinch, SK. She loved playing pranks on the neighbors with her brother, Harold - although she would quickly name the other as instigator if caught. Alvina moved to Regina, SK, after graduating high school and eventually met her husband, Gerry, at the Macleods store in Cupar, SK. Married in 1969, they eventually settled in Prince Albert, SK, with their boys.

Alvina began working in the Holy Family Hospital. She then spent the remainder of her career as “Mrs B.”, the community school coordinator at St. John’s Community School for 21 years, where she loved working with the kids at school. She and Gerry were both very active in the community, be it with their sons’ hockey teams or through work at St. Marks Church, serving on Parish Council and in the Ministry of bringing Communion to the sick and homebound. She loved summer camping at Emma Lake with her family and friends, with many long nights of card playing, story-telling and laughs. During her retirement she loved to travel and visit with her grandkids.

In keeping with Alvina’s wishes, no funeral will be held.
