Obituary of Lyola Taylor

Taylor, Lyola-Passed away with family at her side on March 22, 2010 in North Battleford, SK at the age of 82 years. Lyola was born in the Robinhood area. She was the second youngest of a family of thirteen. She later moved to the Birch Lake district, where she grew up and went to school in a one room school house. After she left school she worked at several jobs, went to Vancouver and worked as a nurse's aide in North Van General Hospital. She moved home and married Claude Taylor in 1949, they bought a farm and farmed for over thirty years. They had two children, Cindy and Fred. Claude passed away in 1975 and Lyola went to work as a waitress. She then became area supervisor for home care in the Glaslyn and Medstead Area for 10 years. Fred and Barb took over the family farm and are living there now. She enjoyed quilting, rug hooking and crocheting. She loved her garden and her flowers. After retiring Lyola moved into Glaslyn in 1996 and lived there until her health caused her to require more care and moved into River Heights lodge in April 2009, where she passed away on Monday, March 22, 2010. Family was very important to Lyola, including grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, each as important and precious as the first. She will be fondly missed by all whose lives she touched. She made the world a better place by being here and we will try continuing to make the world a better place in her memory. Lyola leaves to cherish her memory: Her children: Cindy (Charles) Varcoe of Glaslyn, SK and Fred (Barb) Taylor of Glaslyn, SK. Her Grandchildren & Great Grandchildren: Jolene Varcoe (Alfred Ludviksen) & their daughter; Zoey of Glaslyn, SK; Justin Varcoe (Jennifer Wells) & their children Preston, Kasey & Deacon of Provost, AB; David Taylor of North Battleford, SK; Jesse Taylor of Saskatoon, SK; Adrian "AJ" Taylor (Ashton Field) & their daughter Peyton of Lloydminster, AB and Adam Taylor of Glaslyn, SK. Her brothers & sisters: Mervin David, Edith Lockhart and Hilda Noakes as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends. She was predeceased by: Her parents Alexander & Ellen. Her husband Claude in 1975. Her brothers & sisters John David, Honerene David, Alex David, Ellen Kuhn, Myra MacIntosh, Fred David, Harold David, Donald David & Mina Summers. The Funeral Service was held Friday Mach 26th, 2010 at 2:00 pm from the Glaslyn Community Hall in Glaslyn, SK with Rev. Suzanne Edgar officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lyola's memory may be made to the Arthritis Society.
