Gail Heidt

Obituary of Gail Elizabeth Heidt

It is with great sorrow that the Heidt family announces the passing of Gail Elizabeth Heidt at the age of 69 on October 27, 2023, in Prince Albert, SK.  After a long and determined battle with cancer, she passed away quietly in her home surrounded by family.  Gail will always be remembered as a loving wife and mother with an immeasurable strength of character, which was regularly demonstrated at the kitchen table where many spirited conversations were had.

Gail loved camping and fishing and when not discussing the topics of the time at the kitchen table, could be found out on a lake out fishing everyone else.  She loved travelling and taking pictures of everything everywhere she went.  Some of her travels took her to various rock and gem shows where she would collect “pretties” of all shapes and sizes to have made into handmade jewelry.  This also included a time where she loved all things copper, this extended from kitchenware to jewelry to even foxes due to the color.  Gail was always the “immovable object” and a staunch voice of reason of her family, that not only kept her family grounded but also united in a no-nonsense approach to things.  This was one of her greatest strengths and her absence will be profoundly felt and missed.

Gail is lovingly remembered by her husband of 51 years, Robert Heidt; Sons, Michael (Marcy) Heidt, Terry (Kyla) Heidt, Richard Heidt; brothers, Patrick (Sandra) Howes, Jerry (Debbie) Howes; sisters, Caroline Balisky, Lorraine Church, Deborah (George Key) Howes-Key; brother in-law, Jack (Golda) Heidt; sister in-laws, Betty (Jack) Rae, Jan Heidt, Sylvia Heidt; 5 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Gail is predeceased by her parents, Dick, and Gertrude Howes; parent in-laws, Jack and Jessie Heidt; brother in-laws, Tom Heidt, Don Heidt, and grandson Robert Michael Hollingshead.

Gail will be cremated, and an informal celebration of life will be held in the spring of 2024, in Prince Albert.  Family and friends wishing to send online condolences are welcome to visit www.beaulacfuneralhome.com.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Beau “Lac” Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lorne Adams Funeral Director, Prince Albert, SK 306-763-3322.
