Gerald Buck

Obituary of Gerald Arnold Buck

Gerald was born April 7, 1957 to his loving parents, Arnold Buck and Melva Horn (Sandy). He passed away December 7, 2023 in Shellbrook, Saskatchewan.

Gerald was the first-born son and second oldest of five children; Melvina, Patricia, Marlene and Ronald. After Gerald was born, the Buck family moved to British Columbia but when Gerald was seven, they moved back to the Amiens homestead. This was where Gerald fell in love with the farm. Gerald left school at fifteen years old and began his lifelong dream of farming with his dad. He was determined and a hard worker where he took on many things like trucking, road construction, corral cleaning, welding, and mechanics but Gerald knew farming was his greatest passion. If you saw Gerald in the tractor, it usually was green, and he always had a huge smile on his face.

Gerald met his best friend and the love of his life, Lorie- Ann Lavoie, in 1979 then were later married in 1983. Both loved children. After many hardships, they decided to foster and were the parents to many wonderful children. It wasn’t until they got the call their little girl was ready to be adopted. Gerald and Lorie were so ecstatic and knew their family was finally complete.

Gerald worked away for many years while Chelsey was little. Lorie-Ann managed the farm alongside many great neighbours, friends and family members. While working for great employers and making great friends, he knew he had to come home and be with his family.

After 34 years, Lorie-Ann passed and it was not long after his first-born grandson, Copeland, was born. Gerald’s heart was full again. Then along came his second grandson, Bennett. Gerald’s heart could not have got any bigger. His grandsons were his world and he would have done anything for them. They made many memories with grandpa; from riding in the tractor to eating ice cream before supper.

Gerald fought so hard for as long as he could. Now, he is with his loving wife and enjoying a good conversation with his dad over a bottle of Gibson’s. Gerald will be greatly missed by many.
