Obituary of Judith Delia Parent

Please note the change of venue for the Celebration of Life.

It is with broken hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Judith “Judy” Delia Parent (nee: McDougall), our beloved wife, mom, grandma, sister, and aunty on December 10th, 2023 at 60 years old with loving family by her side.

Judy was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan on December 11th, 1962 to Sophia and Ulrick McDougall. She was born with a twin sister, Peggy, the 11th child, in which would be a total of 13 kids.  Growing up in Hoey, SK, Judy loved to play ball along with all school sports and she enjoyed watching her brothers play hockey. She and Peggy first went to school in Bellevue, then spent 6 weeks in a convent before finishing their schooling and graduating in St. Louis. Their mom had hoped one of them would be a nun, which was later a funny anecdote in the family as party animal Judy and defiant Peggy were certainly not nun material.

Judy married her sweetheart Albert on June 26th, 1981, in Saskatoon, SK and they settled in Prince Albert.  Together they had 3 children - Crystal, Kimberly, and Brody, whom Judy doted on.  The kids recall how well their mom cared for them and their dad.  She especially loved to cook for her husband, kids, grandkids, and extended family whenever possible, and her love certainly came through in her delicious food.

Judy worked for over 30 years alongside Albert at The Northwest Company. Even though Albert was technically the manager, everyone knew she was the real boss. They happily retired together in 2021.

All three of her children married and Judy adored her son-in-laws and daughter-in-law, loving each of them like her own.  Lee (Crystal), Maudiel (Kimberly), and Jodi (Brody) held a very special place in her heart.

She became a grandma when Andrew was born, and she was incredibly happy to welcome Olivia, Arri, Luke, George, Alfred, and Pearl into her family.  She was so very proud of her kids and grandkids and could often be seen FaceTiming her youngest grand babies.  Always calling them “my girl” and “my boy”, they all knew how much they were loved.

Judy loved life and loved to live it up whenever she could.  All her friends and family have so many great memories of having fun with Judy whether it be fishing, competitive lawn dart tournaments, or playing Yahtzee and cards - there was always a fun time to be had.

Judy and Albert spent most of their time together enjoying the simple things in life - spending time with their kids and grandkids, enjoying good food together, and sitting by the fire.  Their house was a revolving door of loved ones coming in to visit, drink a famous Judy caesar or, if they were lucky, have a taste of her world-famous cheeseball. She knew what truly mattered in life and practiced unconditional love every day.

She is survived by her loving family: Albert Parent; Crystal (Lee) Harris; Kimberly Parent (Maudiel Alegria); Brody (Jodi) Parent; her grandchildren Andrew, Olivia, Luke, Arri, George, Alfred, and Pearl; her sisters Linda (Wade) Ostgaard, Joyce (Brian) Phaneuf, Peggy Parenteau, Betty-Lou McDougall (Tim Lustig); her brothers Rodney (Debbie), Lloyd (Darlene), Doug (Rhonda), Ricky, Duncan (Jeanne), Kevin (Danine); her brothers and sisters-in-law Rupert Rabut, Rupert (Joan) Parent, Simone (Raymond) Gorieu, Paulette Clapper, Louise (Stanley) Hodgson, Raymond (Bev) Parent, Doris (Lyndon) Beeds, Hubert (Janet) Parent, Ellayn (Guy) Gaudet, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Judy was predeceased by her parents Ulrick and Sophia (nee: Boyer) McDougall; her in-laws Alfred and Cecile (nee: Jobin) Parent; sisters Valerie Rabut and Lorraine Gareau; brother-in-laws Laird Parenteau and Reg Gareau; nieces and nephews Shelley Gareau, Miranda McDougall, Ashleigh Gaudet, and Devon McDougall.
