Obituary of Mervin Wayne Sundby

It is with great sadness the family announce the passing of their dad, Mervin, 94 years old.  Mervin Wayne Sundby passed away December 13, 2023, at the Big River Health Centre with his family by his side.

Mervin was born on May 4, 1929, in Govan, SK to Andrew and Mayme Sundby.  The family then moved to Big River.  He attended all his school years in Big River.  When he finished school, he started his career as a truck driver which became his lifelong career.  He married Ladonna Olson in 1951, and they had three children.

Mervin was an avid baseball fan and hockey fan and watched many local hockey and curling games as well as followed the MLB and the NHL. Mervin and Ladonna enjoyed their cabin on Zig Zag Island on Delaronde Lake, their store at Nesslin Lake and spent many summer days at both with family and friends.

A celebration of life will be announced later in the spring.

The family would like to express they’re thanks to the Lakewood Lodge in Big River for the excellent care over the past three years for DAD!

And many Sundby and Olson nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mervin was predeceased by his parents Andrew and Mayme Sundby, his wife Ladonna Sundby, three brothers: Donald, Kenny and Delbert and two sisters: Jean Ireton and Edna McNabb plus Ladonna’s siblings and MANY other relatives and friends.
