Obituary of Dale Bassingthwaighte

Dale Bassingthwaighte, late of Prince Albert, SK. Beloved husband of Helen, passed away on Wednesday, Jan 3, 2024 at the age of 82 years.

 

Dale is survived by his wife Helen (nee Hegland) Bassingthwaighte; his children Carolyn (Bob) Hesterman, Jason Bassingthwaighte, Leroy (Bonnie) Bassingthwaighte; his grandchildren Megan, Sarah, Samantha, Michael, Seth, Torin, Tegan, Ashton and JC; his great-grandchildren Alejandro and Taliah; brothers Roy Bassingthwaighte and Wes Bassingthwaighte.

 

He was predeceased by his parents Elwood and Eliza May (nee Burgett) Bassingthwaighte; brothers Earl Bassingthwaighte and Duane Bassingthwaighte.

 

Dale was born in Prince Albert on May 29, 1941 and raised in the Weldon area. He married Helen Hegland on July 3, 1965. Dale continued his father’s career of Piano Tuning and Repair. He traveled most of Northern Saskatchewan for over 60 years tending to pianos of all types including player pianos.

 

Dale was a hardworking man who was known as “Mr.Fix it”, as he was always tinkering or fixing something. As a devoted Christian he volunteered many hours to his church, serving on boards and fixing anything and everything he could.

 

Dale passed away peacefully in his sleep during a short stay at Victoria Hospital, his family surrounded him with love.

 

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at 11:00a.m., Prince Albert Bridge Ministry, 717 MacArthur Drive, Prince Albert, SK. Please use the South-West entrance.  Interment will follow at Winton Cemetery.
