Obituary of Louise Loth
Mrs. Louise Loth 1923-2010 Louise was born to Joseph and Marcella Canaday on September 18, 1923 in Yankee Valley, SK. Louise and her family then moved to Brightholm and she attended Brightholm School until Louise moved to town. Louise then met the love of her life Bert, and they married on September 14, 1944. The family still laughs at the story of how Bert and Louise met. Bert drove the fuel truck and Louise used to run and hide when she saw it coming, but Bert finally won her over and they married. Louise worked many places in town including the Chronicle, Beilhartz Meats, Shellbrook Hospital, Parkland Terrace but mostly at Koppang's Store. She was very involved in the community. Louise was a Charter Member of the Royal Purple for 68 years and 37 years with the Legion, all this and she still raised chickens! She was known for her fried chicken which would not pass the fat content today. Louise was also a favorite aunt to many people, especially one of her nieces who used to watch Louise put on her lipstick and blush and want to be like her when she grew up, and when one of the Loth boys disappeared one day they found him on the road going to see Auntie Weez. Louise was a very shy, private lady but would speak to anyone she met on the street. Louise will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Louise leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter Anita Smibert of Shellbrook; her granddaughter Sasha Smibert (Troy Smith) of Kamloops, B.C; her great grandson Dominic Paisley of Victoria, B.C; her sister in laws Hazel Canaday of Shellbrook, and Shirley Canaday of Surrey, B.C; a brother in law Wally Webb of Ottawa, ON; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Louise was predeceased by her husband Bert Loth; her parents Joseph & Marcella Canaday; her brothers and sisters Dick Canaday, Julia Aug, Bill Canaday, Lois Webb, and Vergil Canaday; her nephew Max Canaday and several in laws. The Funeral Service for Louise took place on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. in the Knox United Church in Shellbrook. Pastor Dave Whalley was officiant, Dave Hjertaas was the organist and the Shellbrook Community Choir led the hymns. The Legion and the Royal Purple served as an honor guard, the active pallbearers were Vic Loth, Bill Loth, Calvin Loth, Perry Loth, Boyd Canaday and Lauron Yungwirth. Interment took place in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Prince Albert. Memorial Donations may be made in Louise's memory to the Shellbrook & Districts Health Services Project.
