Alvin Stevenson

Obituary of Alvin Bruce Stevenson

Alvin Bruce Stevenson, late of Prince Albert, SK, passed away in Hafford, SK, on February 24, 2024, at the age of 78 years.   Alvin was born on December 9, 1945 in Prince Albert where he was also raised.  In 2010, he retired from his career as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic at the Moker and Thompson CaseIH dealership, where he was always known for wearing his red work shirts.  A dedicated volunteer, he served as Past President and lifetime member of the PA Exhibition Board and was Manager of the PA Exhibition Casino.  As well, he remained involved with Vintage Power and as a member and Past President of the PA Raiders Booster Club in the 1980s.  He was a longtime member of the PA Rock Club and liked making rock jewelry.  Alvin enjoyed many outdoor activities such as hunting and helping with farming.  His true passion was fishing, cultivated at the tender age of seven when he would head to Kingsmere with his Dad almost every weekend.  This continued to be a lifelong interest and Kingsmere and Waskesiu remained two of his favorite fishing spots.  Al and Bev also travelled extensively through the United States on many holidays during their 55-year marriage.   Above all, watching his grandsons grow up to become fine young men made him incredibly proud.

Alvin will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Beverly Stevenson (nee Hewison); his son, Cleeland and his children, Aaron Stevenson-Ward and Jonathon Alie; his daughter, Corinne (Greg) Bell and her children, Tanner and Timothy (Shantel) Bell; and his brother, Walter (Luella) Stevenson.  He is predeceased by his parents, Fred and Polly (Hrytzak) Stevenson; his sister, Grace (Lloyd) Evenson; and his brother, Albert Stevenson; his father and mother-in-law, Earl and Pearl (Lalonde) Hewison.

The family would like to offer their sincere gratitude to the doctors, nurses and caregivers of St. Pauls Hospital, Victoria Hospital, Shellbrook Hospital and the Hafford Care Home, for the care, dignity and respect that was shown to him through the last few years.

In keeping with Alvin’s wishes, no formal service will be held.  In lieu of other tributes, donations in memory of Alvin may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 1300-522 University Avenue,
