Obituary of Maurice Gerard Lafond
It is with profound sadness that the family of Maurice Gerard Lafond announces his passing on May 16, 2021, in the comfort of his home, with family by his side. Maurice was born on July 10, 1943 in Leoville, SK, to Lucien and Rose Lafond. Maurice and his five siblings were raised on the family farm in Leoville. On July 31, 1965, Maurice married the love of his life, Hellen and was blessed with four children. Maurice proudly worked in his positions with the government for 33 years. Maurice will always be remembered for his loving, outgoing and kind nature. He was truly a “social butterfly.” He loved people and was known to introduce himself to everyone, always leaving a lasting impression on each person he met. Besides his wife and children, Dad’s other love was time spent at his cottage in Chitek Lake, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his grandchildren and many special close friends.
Maurice leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 55 years, Hellen; his four children: Brian (Lianne) and their children Tyson (Lyndsie) and Ranee (Shawn); Deanna (Leroy) Murphy and their children Rory, Shane, Colin and Emily; Lea (Rick) Zimroz and their children Matthew, Joshua, Nicholas and Noah; and Sheila (Ken) Georget and their children Keanna (Danny), Colton and Kaley; Maurice’s brothers: Paul (Rose Hélène), Leo (Marguerite), Gerard (Paulette) and Roger; sister and brothers-in-law: Alexandria, Elsie (John), Walter (Pat), Harry (Sharon), Linda, Vera and Jim (Marleen); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, other relatives and countless friends.
Maurice was predeceased by his granddaughter Sarah; parents Lucien and Rose Lafond; his sister Cecile (Louis); mother-in-law and father-in-law Harry and Annie Tracz; sister and brothers-in-law: Steve, Mike (Mary), Bill, Olga (Don), John (Sophie) and Les; nephew Kim and niece Maryann.
