Obituary of Louis Pouliot
In Loving Memory of Louis Pouliot who was born on November 17, 1935 in Debden, SK and passed away on June 10, 2010 in Spiritwood, SK. He had 9 brothers and 4 sisters and his parents were Albert and Angline Pouliot. Left to cherish his memory are: His children Leon (Margie) and their children Dominique, Natalie & Renee; Roseline (Gord) and their children Laura, Brett & Matt; Monique and her children Jessica & Melissa; Nicole (Lance) and their children Jeremy, Joelle, Tessa & Danielle; Real (Angela) and their children Meagan, Ashley, Danielle, Jaycie & Matthew; Paul. A great granddaughter Brooklyn. His brothers and sisters: Juliette Bilodeau; Irene Chamberland; Armand (Hazel); Gerald; Andre (Lorraine); Raymond; Denis (Joan) and Marcel (Lucie). His brothers and sisters in law: Odile Pouliot; Cebal Ruel; Leo Charrois; Marguerite Pouliot; Paul Lafond (Rose Helen); Leo Lafond (Marguerite); Maurice Lafond (Helen); Gerard Lafond (Paulette); Roger Lafond & Clara Lafond. As well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives & countless friends. Louis was predeceased by: His loving wife Cecile; his parents; his brothers and sisters: Gilles, Marie, Germaine, Isabelle, Philippe, Jean & Henri; his brothers and sisters in law: Bruno, Giselle, Rejeanne & Fernande. The Prayer Service for Louis was held on Sunday, June 13th, 2010 at 7:30 pm at St. Therese Roman Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated by Rev. Fr. Francis Agbezuge on Monday, June 14th, 2010 at 10:30 am from the St. Therese Roman Catholic Church. The music was performed by the Pouliot Family and the Eulogy was given by his children. The crossbearer was Patty McEwen. Honor Guard was the Knights of Columbus. Pallbearers were Diane Ruel, Therese Mercier, Louise Kuly, Marc Lafond, Maurice Chamberland, Noel Pouliot and Leah Zimroz. Honorary Pallbearers were 'All relatives and friends who shared in Louis' life'. Memorial Donations can be made to Leoville Cemetery Fund c/o Knights of Columbus. Louis was laid to rest in the Leoville Cemetery. Louis attended school at Winslow Lake School in Mattes, SK. At the age of 10 he lost his left eye to an unfortunate accident. However, it did not prevent him from leading a full and active life. On October 27, 1959, he married Cecile Lafond. Together they had six children. Leon arrived in 1961, Roseline in 1963, Monique in 1966, Nicole in 1967, Real in 1969 and Paul in 1970. After they were married they lived in Prince Albert where Louis worked at Oliver's IGA. They later moved to Edmonton where he worked at Silverwood Dairies as a milkman. In 1968, Louis & Cecile moved to Leoville to farm with Cecile's father and farming became their way of life for 28 years. Louis retired from farming in 1986 and became janitor at Leoville School until he retired in 2000. Louis was involved with many organizations such as: School Board, Knights of Columbus, Credit Union Board, Low Income Housing Board, Trailriders Association, Parish Council, and he was also actively involved in fundraising for the church, youth and community.
