March 12, 1949 – April 16, 2024

Pierre Hubert Thomas Merasty, late of Prince Albert, SK, passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at Rose Garden Hospice in Prince Albert, SK.  Pierre’s Wake will commence Thursday, April 18, 2024 at 7:00 PM from the Nordale Community Hall, Prince Albert, SK. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Nordale Community Hall, Prince Albert, SK.

Pierre was born on March 12th, 1949 in Northern Saskatchewan, near Wood Lake. He grew up on the trapline near Pelican Narrows, Saskatchewan. Pierre was known to be a hard worker and started surveying with Hudson Bay Mining & Smelting surveying at 16 years old. His career with HBM&S lasted nearly 30 years. Pierre was married to June (Loyns) on July 30th, 1977 and they would have celebrated 47 years of marriage this summer.  Pierre spent every spare moment he could at his cabin on Jan Lake with his family and friends. Fishing on Jan Lake was his special place and no one knew the lake better.

Pierre is lovingly remembered by his wife, June; his children, Heather Merasty (fiancé Bobby); Steven (Renée) Merasty and children, Nya and Otto; Trevor Merasty and children, Joshua, Brennen and Willow; his siblings, Rose, Gloria (Marc), Cecile (Keith), Terry, Donna (Brian), James, Emile (Darlene), Gary, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  Pierre was predeceased by his parents, Phillip and Helen Merasty; his son, Dwayne Highway; his parents-in-law, Archie and Mary Loyns; his siblings, Margaret, Horace, Sylvia and Ricki. Donations in memory of Pierre may be directed to the Rose Garden Hospice (online at http://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/26521 or mail to 500 38th Street West, Prince Albert, SK S6W 0A3).
