Obituary of Jim Horvath

Imre ‘Jim’ Horvath

It is with great sadness that the family of Imre ‘Jim’ Horvath announces his passing on April 19, 2024. Jim passed away peacefully at Rose Garden Hospice, with family by his side.

Jim was born on November 11, 1940, in Szombathely, Hungary. Jim’s mother passed away at his birth and Imre was raised by his beloved foster mother until he was ten years old and returned to his family.

Jim fled Hungary in 1956, and eventually came to Saskatoon, SK. Here he met Carol while she was attending teachers’ college. They were married in 1961, raising three children together.

Jim became a baptized Jehovah’s Witness on May 28, 1970, becoming an elder who was loved by many for his caring attention and willingness to help many in need. He participated in many Kingdom Hall builds. Jim was a carpenter by trade for many years. In his free time, he loved to go camping and fishing.

Jim leaves to mourn his passing his beloved wife of 63 years, Carol; his three children, Sherri (Nic) Kammerer, Linette Scarlett, and Mitch (Melissa) Horvath; his three grandchildren, Madisyn, McKinley, and Peridon Scarlett; sisters, Rozália Horváth “Rozika”, of Budapest, Hungary; and his many nieces and nephews.
