Ollie Wollms

Obituary of Ollie Wollms

It is with great sadness that the family of Olive “Ollie” Wollms announce her passing on May 23, 2024, at the Spiritwood Long Term Care home at the age of 79.  Ollie was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan on May 25, 1944 to Olaf and Gudrun Kjerstad.  She grew up on the Kjerstad farm north of Little Shell Lake.  Later she moved to Calgary where she worked her first jobs as an usher at the Palace Theater and a switchboard operator with Alberta Government Telephones.  Ollie married Terrence Wollms on October 7, 1966.  They lived in various places throughout Saskatchewan and Manitoba, moving to wherever Terry’s boilermaker job took them. Their first son, Heath, was born in Saskatoon in 1967.  A second son, Randy, was born in Shellbrook in 1971, the same year that Ollie and Terry settled permanently to farm in the Shell Lake area.  After separating from Terry, Ollie lived and worked in northern Alberta, North Vancouver, BC and then in Red Deer, Alberta.  Eventually she returned to her hometown of Shell Lake.  Ollie’s passions included horses, gardening, reading, and spending time with her large family in Shell Lake.  Ollie was incredibly proud of and had tremendous love for her two grandsons, Liam and Keelan.  She was predeceased by her parents; sister, Anna Kjerstad; brother, Harold Kjerstad; brothers-in-law, Cameron Battersby, Bill Warren, Bob Henderson; and 3 nieces and 5 nephews. Ollie is survived by her sons, Heath (Valerie), Randy (Rhonda) and grandchildren, Liam and Keelan.  She is also survived by sisters, Laura Battersby, Louise Law and Joyce Henderson; and brother, Arnold Kjerstad (Rhonda); as well as numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.  It was Mom’s wish that there not be a funeral.  She will be laid to rest at the Shell Lake cemetery with her parents. Family and friends wishing to send online condolences are welcome to visit www.beaulacfuneralhome.com . Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Beau “Lac” Funeral Home and Crematorium, Delores Beaulac, Funeral Director, Spiritwood (306)883-3500.
