Dearest Aunt Fern, Kim, Kirby, and Donnalea and families… Uncle Jake was the best Uncle in the world!
He was one of a kind and always reminded me (when I was a kid) of actor James Dean… Having moved around the country with my dad being in the RCMP, it wasn’t until I was 8 and we were transferred to Calgary that we were now only an 8 hour drive away to the farm… trips to the farm were my absolute favourite…(Christmas, July 1st, Grad’s, weddings, Anniversaries etc) -here are just a few of my memories … checking out the barn and the cattle with Uncle Jake was so cool to me… I remember how he cooked his freshly caught fish and how in the mornings he would stand beside the stove at the farm cooking the eggs perfectly with a few drops of water in the pan and a lid… Uncle Jake’s cowboy boots and his button up shirts… playing cards (game called 99) at the dining table by the piano-and watching as us kids played RISK, he was so good… working in the field and being fed the most amazing meals lovingly prepared by Aunt Fern-I thought he was so lucky to get hot meals at lunch… and even with yummy gravy at times!… watching him play hockey and curl… teaching me how to operate the dirt bike and trike!… just watching how he loved his life, his family, the farm and all of us… I am so sad Uncle Jake has left us, but am happy he is now at rest… how proud he was of the ‘legacy’ he built with Aunt Fern! Here’s hoping everyone is doing ok and sending our condolences once again to you all!
