Obituary of Florence May Johnson

Johnson — Mrs Florence Johnson, age 93 passed away peacefully in her sleep on June first ,at the Spiritwood long term care facility. Born In Medstead on February 1, 1931 mom was raised on a farm near Birch Lake.She attended the one room school house which her father helped build until high school when she boarded in Medstead. Upon completion of her education she taught school in Ranger. She then moved to Prince Albert where she worked in a Residential school for girls, enrolled in Nursing school. And met Dad.  A busy couple of years. They married and then honey mooned in Waskesiu Saskatchewan on August 14,1953 .     After working in BC for 4 years the family of 4 soon to become 5 returned to the farm in Bapaume. Due to Dads declining health and the ups and downs of farming they bought and ran the general store in Belbutte for the next 13 years.  They then, with the help of relatives and neighbours built a home on the farm in Bapaume. Mom was 90 when she moved from the farm.During these years Mom cared for her family, and loved her garden. Two of her life passions.  She also taught music, cared for elderly in her home.  She worked on the ambulance, the nursing home and as camp cook when they improved the highway.

Predeceased by her husband Holger, her son Leonard, and her three brothers Henry ,George,Jim,  mom is survived by her two daughters Susan (Keith) Joyce (Tracy). He sister Margaret ( Luther ) Her sister in law Wilma (Jim) 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Funeral Service to be held at the Pioneer in Spiritwood Centre at 2:00 pm Saturday June 8 Internment at the Bapaume Cementary  Lunch will follow at the pioneer centre Special thanks to the people of the Beau Lac  funeral home for their caring support
