Josephine Leduc

Obituary of Josephine Leduc

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mom Josephine ‘Josie’ Leduc on June 28, 2024, at the age of 87.

Mom was born on the family farm just outside of Albertville, SK, on Sept. 22, 1936, the youngest of eight children.  Tragically, her mother passed the following day and Mom was raised by her dad’s cousin, Marie-Louise and Aime Pellerin. There was no shortage of love and attention as she grew up knowing two families loved her dearly. She attended Albertville School and completed grade nine.

On July 7, 1955, Mom married the love of her life, Don Leduc. Together they raised four children on the family farm where she was born. She was Dad’s right-hand woman as she worked on the farm with him.  Her garden was large and plentiful making for a busy fall with harvesting. She loved to sew, crochet, knit, and made numerous quilts and afghans for her family.  Photography was another of her passions and she had many albums full of photos of family and scenery. She was also involved in several community organizations like the Albertville Co-op Hall and the Community Club and she was always ready to lend a helping hand. Mom was a kind and generous soul who was always taking care of others and putting others first.

Mom and Dad loved to travel and did numerous summer trips all over Canada and the USA.

She will be lovingly remembered by her four children, Richard (Donna) and children, Rick (Chantel) Leduc and Melissa (Chad) Thomas, Gilbert (Lily Fu), Jackie (Art Glanville) Leduc and children, Carmen (Mark) Doyle, Michelle (Aaron Heise) Rogozinski, and Shaun (Andrew Smith) Rogozinski, and Nicole (David) Corriveau and children, Bridget (Dan) McCusker and Jordan (Desiree Morin) Corriveau; eight great grandchildren, Kelsey (Daniel) Ferster, Asiah and Braden Leduc, Michaela, Cannon, Stryker and Isobel Thomas, and Aimee Heise; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Don Leduc; her parents, Calixte and Josephine Brassard; her in-laws, Dollard and Dora Leduc; her brothers, Alfred (Gladys), Aime (Florence), Maurice (Therese), and Gilbert (Dorothy); her sisters, Marie-Jeanne (Francis) Morin, Therese (Rene) Pellerin, and Lorette (Edward) Carrier; brother-in-laws, Lucien Leduc and Adrien (Dallys) Leduc.

The family would like to express their gratitude for the staff at Mont St. Joseph for the loving care they provided for Mom in her final days and the time she spent there with Dad.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mom’s memory to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, July 19, 2024, at St. James Parish, Albertville, SK. Interment will follow at St. James Cemetery, Albertville, SK. Lunch will be served at the Honeymoon Hall, Honeymoon Road, Honeymoon, SK.
