Dearest Lani, Al, Colleen, Rod, Mitch, Warren & Families and All of Roy's Loved Ones. We are truly sorry to hear of Roy's passing. We have many fond memories of Roy from Candle Lake and gatherings throughout the years, he was always happy around his family and his humor was always present. (I can still see in my mind Roy and Ian and their shenanigans n laughs - they were quite the entertaining twosome) He certainly had an adventurous full life and had such great love and pride for his family. Take Care of Yourself and Each Other at this Difficult Time.
Love and Hugs from Virna, Cindy & Donnie and Family, Bonnie & Todd and Family, Darryl and our mom Dianna K

Carol and my condolences go out to the Salen Family. It was our priviledge to call Roy a close friend. We met Roy through another family friend Ian Allen.. Together they helped make our property at Candle Lake " our happy place". I was just retired and helped Roy with his handy-man projects and learned alot of info about small projects and tree removal.
Roy's sense of humour was boundless. He made a scare-crow man in a red checkered shirt, nailed his hand to the roof and put a ladder on the ground. Everyone passing noticed this and many stopped to help a man in distress. He suited up his scare-crow again, sat him on a lawn chair and gave the impression of an ice fisherman just out from "Ships Lantern". We had coffee at "Ships" and watched as snowmobile after snowmobile stopped to ask how the fishing was.
We had many adventures and made great memories with Roy.

Mitchell, Warren, Lani & Colleen…so sorry to hear that your Dad has passed. The Salen/Hartgerink cousins were a tight group growing up and our numbers are dwindling. So many good times shared on the farm, at Candle Lake and dances in Birch Hills. We are headed back for a few days in September hope to see some of you and share a hug!

Sincere condolences to all the Salen family. Not only was Roy a cousin, but more importantly a “friend” That twinkle in his eye always brought laughter and he most definitely was our go-to man at the lake when problems arose . We have fond memories of his accompanying us on a trip to Kelowna.
He shall be dearly missed. May happy memories help you through this difficult time.

Lani, Mitch, Warren and Colleen, I'm real sorry to hear about uncle Roy's passing. I remember going out to the farm where uncle Roy always had the mower fueled up. I loved driving and he was more than happy to let me cut grass. I also remember one time we were there and he came home from work excited about a flock of gease on some land close by. Dad and I were bouncing around in an old truck while uncle Roy was letting lead fly from the box as we were bombing down the field. He didn't get any but I thought we were really on the hunt!
Again, sorry for your loss l, take care.

Condolences to my Salen cousins on the passing of Uncle Roy. Many great memories visiting the farm. I will always remember the Ukemobile which was the old school bus that Uncle Roy converted into a motor home. Your all in my prayers.
