Obituary of Shirley Mary Giles
Shirley Giles
1933 - 2024
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Shirley Giles, born April 23, 1933, on a homestead in the Leask district.
Born into a musical family, many of her siblings sang, all played at least one instrument, and all played by ear! Now the band is back together!
Shirley and her sisters Edna and Marjorie were the Trinity Trio, singing and playing mainly gospel music. Their many gigs took them all around the province and on occasion they teamed up with other musicians or children in song.
Shirley loved her home and was always redecorating it and always ahead of fashion. Just when she’d finish, she’d buy a new set of curtains for the kitchen and the process would begin again.
She loved her yard, which was always creatively decorated at Christmas. In the later years, her children took the reins under her watchful eye.
Being the last living of her siblings and always so loving, she was glad to take her nieces and nephews under her wing to keep their family connection.
Family and friends knew that they were always welcome to join in celebrations or even stay over.
Shirley was active in the community and a proud Legion member. She enjoyed her coffee friends and visiting with her longtime friend, Pat.
Her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were her proudest accomplishments, and there was an abundance of them! Many cherished memories were created and through them, her legacy continues. She was greatly loved and will be sadly missed by many!
Shirley is lovingly survived by her children, Donald Pischke of Edmonton, AB and family:
