Kelly Parker

Obituary of Kelly David Parker

It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of Kelly David Parker on October 8, 2024 at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon with his brother and son at his side.

Kelly was born to Hughbert and Shirley Parker on December 5, 1964. This was the day his life of a famer began, starting as his Dad's little helper and ending with a 35 year partnership with his brother, Wyman.

His cowboy heart and famer work ethic were only strengthened by the few winters he worked in the NWT for Arctic Ice Builders building ice roads. It was upon his return to Saskatchewan in the spring of 1990 when Kelly married Ramona and together raised their three children, CJ, Jackson, and Jessica.

In Kelly's childhood years, horses were a part of his everyday and they remained so throughout his life. 4-H, hockey, hunting, trapping, and super-sliding behind the ski-doo are memories he shared with his children.

In his teen years was when Kelly first experienced the thrill of riding a bucking horse at the Timberland Rodeo. Hooked, he became a member of the Canadian Cowboys Association as a bareback rider. In his second CCA season, he decided to buy a bull rope and Kelly became a bull rider. He was also a member of the Big Country Roping Club, team roping was another sport he participated in with his brother, Wyman.

After hanging up his bull rope, Kelly returned to the game of hockey and played with the Leoville FunTimers. During these years, once the cattle were in pasture and the crops were left to grow on their own, Kelly would bring out the boat. Fishing, tubing, and later a camper filled his days between haying. One event that Kelly attended annually was the Timberland Rodeo, he even judged the riding events for a couple of years until his children began to compete in them.

One of his life's greatest moments was on July 3, 2023 when his granddaughter Madelyn Kellie Gale was born.

Kelly believed in dedication and commitment to everything he was involved in and he enjoyed when he was able to stop and have a quick visit with friends, whether it was on the road, street, yard, poker table, ski-doo trail or in the field.
