Rosie Marie Cartier (Paluk)- Born May 29, 1938

Married June 7, 1958 to Tom Cartier

Rosie was born in the Whitestar District on May 29, 1938, to Valerie and Michael Paluk. She was the 6th out of 8 children.  She took her schooling at Whitestar, Redwing and Christopher Lake. She loved being involved in track & field and sports in general. Rosie at one time held the Senior Girls ball throw record (1955-1956). She along with her brothers & sisters worked at her Dad’s service station- Northway Service which was confectionary and gas. She curled in the Business Girls League during the 2 years she worked at the Bank of Nova Scotia (1956-1958).  She married Tom Cartier in 1958 and together they raised 4 children and a special son Robert Hassard since 1973. She played commercial league ball with the Key Realetts and they won the Provincial Championships in 1967-68.  Rosie worked at North Park Center Group Homes and as a nurse aid at the Herb Bassett Home. She enjoyed her fellow workers and also taking care of the people at the home. Mom and Dad were involved in Bed and Breakfast meeting many different people from all over the world. She was involved in the Whitestar Community Centre, Cloverdale Cooperative Hall, Sacred Heart Cathedral, Prince Albert Exhibition Association, in which she was a life member, Red River Equestrian Centre, Sask. Wheat Pool, Spruce Home Trail Riders Senior Club.  Rosie loved all sports and people. Rosie and Tom curled in the farmers curling league. She loved playing golf with her friends. She thoroughly enjoyed driving her children to music, hockey, 4-H, and other sports & events.  Rosie will be remembered and sadly missed by her loving family and friends.

Rosie is survived by: Children, Janice (Roger Boucher ), Wayne (MawMaw), Daryl (Gayle), Bobby (Kayla Smaldon); special son, Robert Hassard;  grandchildren, Colleen (Travis Smith), Derek (Kayla Inglis), Dominique (Justin Dryka), Carson, Hailey (Taite Stober), Tanner, Colton (Erin), Kelsey (Tarren Winder), Shenah, Kianna;  great grandchildren, Karlen, Jaden, Gracie, Charley, Emma, Lily, Klarke, Sunday, Hugo, Isla; sisters, Jennie Wozniak, Bernice (Tony Polowniak), Pearl Paluk Mary Sarrazin, Annie (Eddie Krip);  sister-in-law, Joyce Paluk (Walter); and her brother-in-law,  Alister (Arlene) Cartier. 

Predeceased by parents,  Michael and Valerie Paluk; father and mother-in-law, Odias and Yvonne Cartier; brothers, Walter Paluk and John Paluk; brothers-in-law, Emile Sarrazin, Walter Wozniak, Bill Cartier, Norman Brandon, William Tait, Leo Latzkowski, William December and Ron Mckenzie; sisters-in-law, Gertie December, Delia Latzkowski, Lil Tait, Charlotte Cartier, Angeline Mckenzie, Vivian Bertram, Evelyn Brandon; brothers-in-law, Leonard Cartier, Arthur Cartier, Mark Cartier, and granddaughter, Caylah Casavant.

Private Graveside Service will be held in the spring.
