Obituary of Valerie Faye Mamczasz
Valerie Faye Mamczasz (nee Tarnowetzki), passed away on October 21, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Foam Lake, SK, on December 26, 1955, to Matt and Lillian Tarnowetzki. She grew up on the family farm just south of Tuffnell, SK, and attended school in Tuffnell and Foam Lake. In 1976, Valerie received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from the University of Regina. While attending university, she worked summers at North Park Centre in Prince Albert.
While working in Prince Albert, Valerie met and fell in love with Stan Mamczasz. They were married on August 5, 1978, and lived in Prince Albert until their passing.
Valerie worked as administrative support for the Prince Albert Rural School Division #56 and Saskatchewan Rivers Public School Division for thirty-two years, retiring on May 31, 2013.
Family was very important to Valerie, and she hosted many English Christmas and Ukrainian Christmas celebrations. She and Stan attended every family gathering, wedding, funeral, and any activity involving their nephews and nieces. They also supported the activities of many friend’s and neighbor’s children. In their retirement, Valerie and Stan travelled to Arizona in the winters so that they could golf every day. Valerie enjoyed cross-stitching, knitting, and card-making. She knit 800 toques for donation to the hospital and Salvation Army. She always had a hand-made card to acknowledge important events.
In keeping with her wishes, Valerie spent her last days at the Rose Garden Hospice.
Valerie was predeceased by her husband, Stan (2019); her father, Matt Tarnowetzki (1994); her father-in-law, John Mamczasz (1976); and her mother-in-law, Krystyna Mamczasz (1999).
She is survived by her mother, Lillian Tarnowetzki; her brother, John (Brenda) Tarnowetzki, and family, Rune, Jonas, and Robin (Michael); brother-in-law, George Mamczasz; sister-in-law, June Sauer, and family, Cole (Jodie), and Ashley (Zach); brother-in-law, Ed Mamczasz; brother-in-law, Roman (Jeannine), and family, Eric (Candice), Ranelle (Kirk) Hnidek, and Craig; brother-in-law, Rob (Kirsten) Mamczasz, and family, Racquel, and Nicholas. She is also survived by great niece Adelaine; and great nephews, Aaron, Kade, Eli, and Samuel.
A Celebration of Valerie’s Life will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at St. Joseph Parish, 260 25th Street East, Prince Albert, SK.
