Obituary of Roland Phillip Robin
Roland (Rolly) Philipe Robin
April 29, 1951 – November 7, 2024
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Roland (Rolly) Philipe Robin, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law and friend. Roland passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 7, 2024. His caring and playful spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Born on April 29, 1951, Roland grew up on the family farm east of Prince Albert, with his parents Gerald and Agnes and brother Andrew, where he learned the values of hard work and community. He attended East Central School and later Prince Albert Technical High School. Early in his career, Roland held various jobs, including working for the City of Prince Albert, Ruszkowski Construction, and driving for STC. He then worked at Prince Albert Pulp and Paper Mill, where he held many roles until retirement. Never one to slow down, he later worked at the Candle Lake Golf Course and ran his own small engine repair business, sharing his love for anything with an engine.
On December 27, 1971, Roland married Linda Rudd, the love of his life, for nearly 53 years. They built a home together on an acreage outside Prince Albert, where they raised their family and created countless memories over five decades. Roland took immense pride in their home and yard, always keeping it in immaculate condition. Their life together was full of love, laughter, and unwavering support.
Roland was known as a true jack-of-all-trades. Never one to back down from a challenge, he was hands-on and dedicated, accumulating numerous certificates and awards throughout his career. In retirement, he found joy in activities that brought him closer to nature and his community. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, camper, and snowmobiler, and he enjoyed countless hours in the outdoors. He belonged to the Prince Albert Wildlife Federation and the Prince Albert Fly-fishing Club, where he shared his love for the outdoors with others. In later years, he and Linda traveled extensively across Canada and the United States, spending several winters in Arizona.
Rolands personality was as full of life as he was. A true social butterfly, he loved a good gathering, whether around a campfire sharing fish stories or at a lively game of Kaiser. He was always ready to lend a hand to a neighbor, family member, or friend. Known for his dancing, his laughter, and his fondness for anything with an engine, Roland could often be found in his garage, tinkering away on his latest project.
An active member of St. Mark’s Parish and the Knights of Columbus, Roland’s faith and commitment to service were constants in his life. He also served as president of the Evergreen Chapter of the Good Sam’s Club, a testament to his leadership and sense of community. Rolands dedication to helping others extended to his volunteer work with Mont St. Joseph’s and Herb Bassett nursing homes, where he brought joy and compassion to those in need.
Roland was predeceased by his parents, Gerald and Agnes Robin; and his parents-in-law, Ragnar and Shirley Rudd. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Linda Robin; his children, Christel Robin (Jasen Bellamy) and Clint Robin, and his beloved granddaughter, Violett Robin. He is also survived by his brother, Andrew Robin (Kathie Attig); in-laws, Marilyn and Danny Tkachuk, Lee Rudd and Gord Brennan, Mark and Nancy Anderson, Mark and Pam Rudd, Tammy Rudd, and Patti Ferguson; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Rashid, Dr. Bensaleh, and the compassionate teams at Victoria Hospital and Parkland Homecare for their dedicated care and support.
