Obituary of Rolande Lilian Marie Poulin
Rolande Liliane Marie (Mom/Memere)
Mom was born in Leoville on July 10, 1932. She was the 3rd of 13 children born to Louis and Laurette Denis.
They resided on a small farm just north of Leoville.
Mom attended Leoville school till the 7th grade. She often told us she wished she could have continued, but times were tough, and her help was needed.
She worked as a housekeeper, in childcare, as a waitress in Stella Marions Cafe and as a nurse's aide in Leoville Hospital; all before she married Dad on June 8th, 1954.
After a few years of living in Port Alberni, BC and in Prince Albert, Mom and Dad moved back to Leoville where they purchased the garage.
Mom kept busy raising us kids and bookkeeping for the garage.
Mom volunteered and belonged to many organizations in the community.
She sewed, knitted, crocheted and baked for the family. Again, she worked as a nurse's aide now known as special care aide in Evergreen and worked a few years at the Post Office.
Mom and Dad did some travelling and camping but mostly enjoyed being home with family and helping with grandchildren and great-grand children-her "pumpkins" (the girls) and the boys were all "My boy".
In later years she totally enjoyed visiting, playing cards (golf) and Yahtzee.
Mom was a very strong-willed woman, very independent and never asked for help.
While we are sad that we don't have Mom/Memere anymore, we know there are others that are so very happy to be with her right now- Dad, Marcel and Baby Milo.
Right now- Mom would say "Don't cry for me. I'm where I want to be. I'll miss you but I'll always be near"
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, November 25, 2024 at Ste. Therese RC Church.
