Obituary of Rolande Lilian Marie Poulin
Rolande Liliane Marie Poulin (Mom/Memere)
Born July 10, 1932, Leoville, SK and passed away November 17, 2024, Leoville, SK at 92 years of age.
Mom was born in Leoville on July 10, 1932. She was the 3rd of 13 children born to Louis and Laurette Denis. They resided on a small farm just north of Leoville. Mom attended Leoville school till the 7th grade. She often told us she wished she could have continued, but times were tough, and her help was needed. She worked as a housekeeper, in childcare, as a waitress in Stella Marions café, and as a nurse's aide in Leoville Hospital; all before she married Dad on June 8th, 1954.
After a few years of living in Port Alberni, BC and in Prince Albert, Mom and Dad moved back to Leoville where they purchased the garage. Mom kept busy raising us 3 kids and bookkeeping for the garage.
Mom volunteered and belonged to many organizations in the community. She sewed, knitted, crocheted and baked for the family. Again, she worked as a nurse's aide now known as special care aide in Evergreen and worked a few years at the Post Office. Mom and Dad did some travelling and camping but mostly enjoyed being home with family and helping with grandchildren & great grandchildren - her "pumpkins" (the girls) and the boys were all "My boy”. In later years she totally enjoyed visiting, playing cards (golf) and Yahtzee. Mom was a very strong-willed woman, very independent and never asked for help. While we are sad that we don't have mom/memere anymore, we know there are others that are so very happy to be with her right now - Dad, Marcel and Baby Milo.
Right now - Mom would say, "Don't cry for me. I'm where I want to be. I'll miss you, but I'll always be near".
Rolande is lovingly remembered by: her children and grandchildren: Marilyn (Vern) Booker of Leoville, SK and family: Tara Booker (Dean) - Shayna & Kaden, Stacey (Ben) Saam - Ryker & Haylee, Lance (Kendall) Booker - Mariah, Kastin, Laraya, Theo, Thomas, Asher, Tatumn, & Milan, Suzanne (Ed Thiel) of Leoville, SK, Joann Poulin (daughter-in-law) of Leoville, SK and family: Tyler (Connie) Poulin - Brayden & Hunter, Megan (Beau) Vandale - Mallie (Jordan), Tenley, & Noah. Her siblings: Raymonde Bouchard, Simone Chase, Anne Marie Compagna, Paul (Lorraine) Denis, Ernest (Doris) Denis, Claude (Sue) Denis, Celine Doucette, Cecile (Sid) Klics, Charles (Deanna) Denis, Her foster brother: Gerald Watson, Her sisters-in-law: Allison Denis and Yvette Denis and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was predeceased by: her husband: Leo Poulin, her son: Marcel Poulin, her grandson: Milo Booker, her parents: Louis and Laurette Denis, her siblings: Eva (Albert) Crossland, Lillian (Roland) Gerard, Armand Denis, and Gilbert Denis, her siblings-in-law: Albert Bouchard, Marray Chase, Real Compagna, Glenda Denis, and Wilfred Doucette, her foster brother: Mervin Watson, her parents-in-law: George and Virginie Poulin.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, November 25, 2024 - 11:00 am at St. Therese Roman Catholic Church, Leoville, SK with Rev. Father Ramel Macapala as celebrant. Rolande’s final resting place is in the Leoville Cemetery.
