Annette Yungwirth

Obituary of Annette Therese Marie Yungwirth

Annette Yungwirth (95) of Warman, Saskatchewan, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, surrounded by her family.  She is now reunited in heaven with her husband of 71 years, George, who passed away on January 31, 2024.

She was born in Vonda, Saskatchewan in 1929, and married George Yungwirth in 1952.  Together, they realized their lifelong dream of farming and raising their family of six children, living 63 years in the Whitfield district, RM of Buckland.

Annette was known for her gifted abilities in gardening, baking, sewing, and crocheting. She had the most amazing garden year after year, growing beautiful flowers and reaping a bounty of fruits and vegetables, despite less than ideal weather some years. She could often be found at the Prince Albert Farmer’s Market with a truckload of produce along with fresh baked bread and fruit pies. In her spare time, she crocheted a multitude of afghans and sewed many log cabin and patchwork quilts - more than enough to supply each of her children and grandchildren with at least one each. Together with George, they spent countless hours entertaining themselves with fishing escapades, camping trips, travelling to many countries, and living life to the fullest socializing with family, neighbors, and friends.

Volunteer work included 45 years with the Sacred Heart Catholic Women’s League in Prince Albert. She especially enjoyed Thursdays, volunteering at the Sacred Heart Cathedral Thrift Shop, visiting and working with her friends there.  She and George made sure they always made a significant contribution to the annual church Fall Bazaar, providing them with garden carrots, for as long as they were able to do so.

Above all else, Annette has left an indelible mark on the hearts of her loving family, which includes her six children and their spouses, Diane (Jim Miller), Vivian (Paul LaHaye), Leonard (Margaret Hordyski), Beatrice (George Regnier), Judith (John Campbell), Noreen (Phil Rapin), along with her 15 grandchildren; her 18 great-grandchildren; her sisters-in-law, Magdelina Bernier and Adelaide Yungwirth; her brother-in-law, Marcel Roy; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband, George; her parents, Leon and Elise (nee Florizone) Detillieux; her grandson, David LaHaye; her brothers, Andre, Victor, Raymond, Jerome, Pierre, Leon, and Rene Detillieux; her sisters, Marie Gauthier, Madeleine Commandeur, Sr. Suzanne Detillieux (pm), Bertha and Gilberte Detillieux; her brother-in-law, Anthony Yungwirth; and her sisters-in-law, Theresa Roy and Agnes Detillieux.

Annette had a deep commitment to her Catholic faith, her marriage to George, her children, her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren.  She prayed the rosary every night and held it in her hands as she slept.  Memorial donations in Annette’s name can be given to Sacred Heart Cathedral, 1401 4 Ave W, Prince Albert, SK S6V 5H1.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude for the exceptional care she received from the doctors, nurses, and personal care workers at Diamond House in Warman.  As well, to Father Peter Ebidero, Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Martensville, SK, for his presence in Annette’s life.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, 300 8th Avenue South, Martensville, SK.  Interment will be held at 1:30 p.m., on Monday, December 16, 2024, at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens.   Family and friends wishing to send online condolences are welcome to visit http://www.beaulacfuneralhome.com  Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Beau “Lac” Funeral Home and Crematorium, Tracy-Lynn Lenchuk, Funeral Director, Prince Albert, SK 306-763-3322
