Obituary of Patricia May Kwinlaug

KWINLAUG - Mrs. Patricia May 1920 - 2010 After a lengthy illness, Patricia Kwinlaug passed away at age 90 years on October 2, 2010 at the Spiritwood Long Term Care Facility. Pat was predeceased by her parents Edith and Bill Wolfe of Ordale, her brothers Willie, Ted and Bob Wolfe and her sister Minnie Riome; her beloved husband of 47 years Martin Kwinlaug; and her second husband of 20 years Elis Edquist; also her father and mother in law Tallak(Tom) Kvinlog and Annie Larson/Segberg and their children, Peter Kvinlog, Lloyd Kvinlaug and his son Rodney, Florence Anderson(Kvinlaug), Tommy Kvinlaug; brother in laws Ken Bird and Graeme Riome. She is survived by her sister Jennie Bird, her daughter Barbara and husband Richard Clark, her only granddaughter Keitha Clark and husband Bruce Dent and her only great grandson Rowan Kvinlog Dent; and her daughter Donna Kwinlaug and husband Gordon Holmes along with sister in law Loretta Wolfe, Phyllis Wolfe and Gene Kwinlaug as well as several nieces and nephews. Throughout her life Pat adapted to many difficult situations and gave generously of her love, time and energy to her community and to family members to make their lives better in whatever way she could to help. She lived at Cranbrook BC and Alticane and Ordale as a child and with her husband she lived at Ordale, Shell Lake, Kinistino and Shellbrook and Regina. She resided in Shellbrook for 56 years in total. Pat was living in Spiritwood these last 2 years where she was finally able to receive much needed appropriate care by the kind compassionate staff in that fine home. Her family is grateful that she was able to live her final years there in peace, and contentment. Unfortunately her earlier several years of illness were made more difficult for her and her family than they should have been but at least in her last 2 years (at Spiritwood) she was relaxed and comfortable, protected and finally free of all of the stresses of her disease condition and her life. This was a great comfort to her and her family. While at Spiritwood she and her family appreciated the pleasant staff and the lovely surroundings there. Mom was involved in their activities as much as possible and she especially enjoyed the musical entertainment, always remembering all the song words and even managed to do some dancing (her lifelong passion). She was visited as often as possible by her daughter Barbara and her husband Richard and her great grandson Rowan and his mother Keitha. When Keitha visited she would inevitably play grandma a fiddle tune or two which Mom really enjoyed....they always had a very special relationship. Mom gave her 90 years a pretty good run! She is greatly missed by her family and remaining friends. A private service was held in her honor. Pastor Dave Whalley officiated and the interment took place in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Prince Albert. There are no specified Memorial Donations.
