Buck attended school for half a year near Ranger, until his family moved to Green Lake where he helped out on the family farm whiles his father was off to war. Later Buck moved to Chitek Lake where he would meet his life partner Patsy. They were married August 24, 1949 and raised three beautiful children' Charles, Craig and Laurie. Buck was always very involved with his family. Spending summers camping and winters at the hockey rink watching hockey and figure skating, and also at the curling rink where the entire family participated. Buck started working as a tower man for the Department of Natural Resources. He got promoted to Patrol Man, then became a conservation Officer. There are few men who have worked their way like that, especially with a grade 1 education, which has gained much respect from his fellow co-workers, many who have kept in touch with Buck throughout the years. He worked as Conservation Officer for 31 years until his retirement in 1987. He was very proud of his accomplishment and passed on all his stories of his adventures to his grandchildren. Buck was an avid fisherman. Any of the locals, as well as tourists, would fish where "Buck fished" since they would be guaranteed a good catch. He fished for sport as well as did some commercial fishing. If he was not on the lake, you could usually find him on his trike in the bush hunting or picking berries. Buck also played in a band called the Pot Bellies, led by Gilles Francoeur. Buck was a very hospitable man. You would be guaranteed that coffee was on with a treat waiting, whether it be cakes or pies he made from scratch. He enjoyed having company and many late nights spent playing cards. One of Bucko's greatest accomplishments, aside from his children, was his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Nothing could light up his face more than seeing them. He spent many hours out on the lake, passing on his fishing tricks to his grandsons, and many hours in the kitchen, passing on his baking skills to his granddaughters. He was proud of all their accomplishments they have made in life and even prouder to be able to see his "babies" have babies of their own. A celebration of Buck's life was celebrated October 8, 2010 from the Chitek Lake Community Hall with Delores Beaulac officiating. Chas Dougan delivered the eulogy. Donations in Buck's memory may be made to the Spiritwood Home Care or to the Northern Lakes Health Committee. Beau"Lac" unreal Home of Spiritwood have been entrusted with the funeral arrangements. E-mail condolences will be forwarded to the family www.beaulacfuneralhome.com
