As a youth, he worked with his dad breaking land with a steam engine and moved to Big River in 1932 to work in tie camps. He drove cat on fish and freight swings, he held construction jobs that included Cowan Lake Dam, Saskatoon airport and he worked at warf projects in Sylvan Lake and Great Slave Lake. He bought a Kodak camera and became an avid amateur photographer, taking many great black and white photos of jobs where he worked over the years. In 1945, he went into the land clearing business for area farmers and the Local Improvement District. He was also called on by Natural Resources to fight fires with his cat. At the age of eighty, he was coaxed out of retirement to fight fires. He was known by all in Big River as a hard worker with huge strong hands. He met Elnora Anderson and they were married in 1939. They raised five children into whom they instilled their good work ethic. The family remembers the large gardens with lots of veggies and potatoes. No one went hungry in the Pederson house. Clarence was a quiet gentle man, a hard worker who in later years loved to putter around in his shop. He enjoyed to play the violin, and would get Clarice to accompany him on the piano. He especially loved to have the grandchildren around, to tease them. In later years, he and Norrie enjoyed many trips together, especially the trip to Alaska because of all the old mines and equipment and mining stuff. This was right up his alley. The celebration of Clarence's life was held October 21, 2010 from the Big River Community Hall with Delores Beaulac officiating. His eulogy was given by a long time friend Len Zinovich. The soloists Jack and Tilly sang some of the family favorites. The urn bearer was his son Ken. Interment took place in the Big River Cemetery.
