Obituary of Dale George Willick
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Dale George Willick Dec. 9, 2010 at the age of 42 yrs, after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. Dale was born January 11, 1968 in Spiritwood, Sask, the New Year's baby for that year. He was the youngest of 6 children, raised in Mildred, SK. He was very athletic, especially in hockey, this brought him to play with the AAA Midget Prince Albert Raiders. At the age of 16, Dale was in a car accident, this left him a quadriplegic but his passion for the love of hockey continued. He coached and led other young men on and off the ice from the seat of his wheelchair. He loved number crunching, he personally recorded hockey stats for five hockey leagues in the surrounding district. Dale also had a love of the land, a true farmer at heart. With the help of his parents and his wonderful wife by his side, he was able to grain farm, raise cattle, and own and operate Willick Custom Seed Cleaning. Family, friends, church and community were very important to Dale. He loved family and special gatherings, he was a great game player, sports fan and a keen fisherman whenever there was an opportunity. He was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, and a very active member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also involved with the Farmers with Disabilities Program, and the Farmers with Disabilities Advisory Committee which allowed him to give farm safety presentations for children grades K-6. Dale will be remembered by his loving wife Nancy (Wiley), mother Emma, grandmother Francis Jaster, sisters Lynn (Bryan) Gaboury, Barbara (Delray) Creary, Bernice (Verne) Luchinski, Carol (Ron) Schira, Penny (Dean) Pylypow, his parents in law Russ and Doris Wiley, numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was predeceased by his father George Willick and his grandparents Albert & Simone Willick and Julius Jaster. The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated, December 16, 2010 at 1:00 pm from the Spiritwood Civic Centre, with Rev. Fr. Francis Agbezuge as celebrant. The cross bearer was friend Jason Franson. Music was directed by Charles & Claire Schira with Dan Marion and Giselle Booth. Special music was provided by Ron & Carol Schira.
