Obituary of Evelyn Hulda Anderson
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our dear mother Evelyn Hulda Anderson (Pearson) on the morning of December 24, 2010. Evelyn was born on October 13, 1926, the fifth child of eight born to Victor and Grace Pearson. She attended primary school at Silent Call and prior to settling on the farm near Canwood, she worked as a waitress in Big River and Canwood. She met her husband, Alden, while working in Canwood when he was on leave from the Royal Canadian Navy. They were married on April 18, 1947, started farming and remained on the original homestead for 45 years. The farm was sold in 1991, they then moved to a new home in Canwood in 1991. The mixed farming operation was a true partnership with Mom being an active participant in the daily chores, the haying and the harvesting operation. She always had large gardens. In addition to cooking regular meals, she always had time to ensure her kids were getting their homework and other duties completed as assigned. Mom loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her five children and in her later years, her nine grandchildren and at present her four great grandchildren. After moving to Canwood from the family farm, Evelyn became an active member in the Canwood Community. Whether it was the senior club activities, coffee row or the "Jam" sessions every other Saturday night, mom would be there. She truly enjoyed the company of her many friends. Her hobbies included knitting, crocheting, playing cards and bingo and, watching sports, especially her Saskatchewan Roughriders and curling. Evelyn will be deeply missed by her family and many friends.
